Akira Kurosawa is a filmmaker whose name is synonymous with cinematic greatness, and for good reason. Over the course of his illustrious career, Kurosawa crafted some of the most stunning, influential, and emotionally resonant films ever made.

How To Spot A Gold Digger

April 5, 2024

1. Understand what a gold digger is, and is not.

There’s nothing wrong with a person being concerned about your financial stability. A long-term partnership means depending on each other through the ups and downs, and being financially reliable does help with that to a degree.

The difference between a gold digger and someone who values your role as a provider is that the gold digger would deride and perhaps leave you if you lost your ability to provide for them financially.

A good person can appreciate your financial resources, but a gold digger appreciates only that, and will not see the relationship as worthwhile if you’re not well off.

What to Say to a Cop When He Asks “Do You Know How Fast You Were Going?”

April 5, 2024

My dad, 3 uncles, 5 great uncles, well over 20 cousins are all law enforcement.

I pretty much drive 10–30 mph over the speed limit everywhere that’s outside of the city (live in a city of 100k people, and travel all over the state for work, all the time).

I get pulled over at least 6 times a year. So far this year I’ve been pulled over 8 times and got 1 ticket. On average, I get a ticket once every 2 years. Yes, I normally get a ticket less than 10% of the time I’m pulled over.

When I am speeding and see a LEO put their lights on, I IMMEDIATELY do the following:

14 Therapist Reveal Unusually Common Things They Often Hear, That People Are Hesitant To Disclose

April 5, 2024

1. Unwanted intrusive thoughts are normal and do not mean you are a bad person (yes, even intrusions of sexual/religious/moral themes).

By definition, these are thoughts that are unwanted bc they go against your own values and highlight what you don’t want to do (eg, a religious person having unwanted blasphemous images pop into their mind, or a new parent having unwanted sexual thoughts about their new baby).

However normal these thoughts are (over 90% of the population), the moral nature of these thoughts mean that often people experience a lot of shame and take many years before they first tell someone about them.

Finding Purpose in the Pain: The Role of Suffering in Personal Growth

April 5, 2024

Suffering

Let’s cut the crap: life can be a real shit-show sometimes. We’ve all had those moments where it feels like the universe is taking a giant cosmic dump on our dreams and grinding our hopes into a fine, sad powder.

It’s easy to fall into the trap of thinking that the key to a good life is to minimize pain and maximize pleasure. But what if I told you that the opposite is true?

Tough Financial Situation of the Day

April 4, 2024

I’m in 250k worth of debt and I’m seriously considering going back to school

So I recently stumbled across a new career prospect that I’m extremely interested in . It’s in the medical field and I’d be making upwards of 150-200k right after graduating from the 2.5 years of schooling. The only issue I’m having is that I’m already in over 240k worth of high interest student loan debt . I currently make 70k working 2 jobs and I know my salary will increase but it’ll probably take another 7-10 years before even reaching $150k .

Is it worth applying for the program? It’s a very rigorous program and I can’t possibly work through it. I’m also on only 1 income at the moment so I’ll be responsible for covering living expenses for my self and my mother who lives with me.

This job will give me such a good quality of life after , but I’ll like come out owing $400k since interest on my current loans will keep accruing while in college.
