frank cullotta

The hitman at the end of Casino is played by Frank Cullotta, a real-life mobster whose career in the Chicago/Las Vegas mob gave inspiration to the film.

Frank Culotta, though not a Las Vegan, was a technical consultant on the film, since he knew Tony Spilotro since they were children and was the Ant’s right-hand man in Vegas.

In the scene where the hitman is chasing the target through his Las Vegas house, the actor playing the shooter just couldn’t get it right. Scorcese said to Frank, “Show him how you did it.” (Yes, Cullotta himself had assassinated Jerry Lisner, who’d provided information to the police about crimes that Cullotta and Spilotro had committed.)

Frank acted it out so realistically that Scorcese put him in the movie to film that scene.

Why Aren’t Power Lines in the US Buried Underground?

June 9, 2023

power lines

In large cities you’re correct, there’s a reason you don’t see power lines draped across buildings in Manhattan. And even more affluent neighborhoods will have the lines buried. But there’s one enormous reason that ALL lines aren’t buried: cost.

If You’re Blaming Others, You’re Avoiding Responsibility In Your Life

June 9, 2023

(photo: @mikamatin)

No one gets through life unscathed. And while it is 0% your fault that these things happen to you, it is 100% your responsibility to deal with the aftermath of what your situation has given to you.

I had one client a few years ago who blamed all of his life’s shortcomings on the fact that his father had been largely absent during his childhood.

Having emotionally unavailable parents is a hinderance, no doubt. So is having one of your best friends die. So is being raped. So is being bullied for years. So are a lot of things that happen to people, every day, around the world.

Depressing Confession of the Day

June 8, 2023

Porn has ruined my life.
