September 27, 2022

In online dating, you’re going to competing with a massive male population. Too many men bombard women with boring statements, lewd comments, and over-the-top sappiness. The best thing you can do is be interesting, intriguing, and please, show some class.

“You Are Not Everyone’s Cup Of Tea”

September 26, 2022

(photo: @mrrrk_smith)

The world is filled with people who, no matter what you do, no matter what you try, will simply not like you. But the world is also filled with those who will love you fiercely. The ones who love you: they are your people.

Don’t waste your finite time and heart trying to convince people who aren’t your people that you have value. They will miss it completely. They won’t buy what you are selling. Don’t try to convince them to walk your path with you because you will only waste your time and your emotional good health. You are not for them and they are not for you. You are not their cup of tea and they are not yours.

Politely wave them along and you move away as well. Seek to share your path with those who recognize and appreciate your gifts, who you are.

I am thankful for..

September 20, 2022

I am thankful for..

– The taxes I pay because it means that I am employed

– The clothes that fit a little too snug because it means I have enough to eat

– My shadow who watches me work because it means I am out in the sunshine

– A lawn that has to be mowed, windows that have to be washed, and gutters that need fixing because it means I have a home

– The spot I find at the far end of the parking lot because it means I am capable of walking

– All the complaining I hear about our government because it means we have the freedom of speech

– The lady behind me in church who sings off key because it means that I can hear

– The huge pile of laundry and ironing because it means my loved ones are nearby

– The alarm that goes off in the early morning because it means that I’m alive

“Writing is perhaps the greatest of human inventions”

September 19, 2022

carl sagan book quote

“One glance at a book and you hear the voice of another person…perhaps someone dead for thousands of years. Across the millenia, the author is speaking, clearly and silently, inside your head, directly to you. Writing is perhaps the greatest of human inventions, binding together people, citizens of distant epochs, who never knew one another.”

Fail, fail, fail, and then fail some more

September 14, 2022

how to stay motivated

(photo: @johnnyabroad)

Let’s be real: it’s actually pretty nice, right, to just do the same things day in, day out?

It lets you be in your safe little comfort zone and you don’t have to experience anything that would possibly make you feel bad.

Why would you not watch Netflix for hours, instead of going out and talking to a bunch of women/men and potentially get rejected?

Or apply for that one job you’d love but instead just sit around at that dead-end job you’ve not been enjoying for a lot of time, just because you might get rejected?

Kill The Boy And Let The Man Be Born

September 13, 2022

are you a real man

(photo: @zacdurant)

When you’re a boy, it’s alright to do kid things. That’s what our childhood and teenage years are for.

But with each passing year, the line between “boy” and “man” is becoming blurred. We’re taking longer to move out, find steady jobs and get married. We delay the responsibilities of manhood to enjoy ourselves for longer.

Always Invite Her Out Even If You Think It’s Pointless

September 6, 2022

Sometimes when you meet a woman out in your daily life, you only get to chat for a few moments.

Because the conversation went by so quickly, you don’t bother inviting her out to see her again. You assume that there’s no way she’d be open to the idea in that short timeframe.

You think you didn’t talk to her long enough. You feel you didn’t build enough chemistry or get into a more engaging conversation. Maybe you believe you weren’t funny enough.

Would Your Ideal Self Act This Way?

September 2, 2022

(photo: @hannahrdg)

I have found that when I want to do something I shouldn’t do I think “Do I want to be the kind of person who does this?” or if there is something that I should do but am not doing I think

“Do I want to be the kind of person that doesn’t do this?”

Which reminds me of the gap between who I am and who I want to be and helps me move towards who I want to be.

Try it next time you think you shouldn’t do something but ignore that feeling, think, “Do I want to be the kind of person that does this?”

So sometimes you aren’t being better because you feel like being better, but simply because you see yourself in the future as someone who is better

How The Power Of Forgiveness Will Set You Free

August 31, 2022

forgiveness

(photo: @jasonhogan)

“To forgive is to set a prisoner free and discover that the prisoner was you.” — Lewis B. Smedes

Forgiveness does not erase the past, but looks upon it with compassion.

To withhold forgiveness keeps alive emotions of hurt, anger and blame which discolour your perception of life.

To forgive, avoid ruminating on thoughts of being wronged. Rather, trust the power of forgiveness to heal the hurt and pain.

By holding on to pain and resentment, you suffer because the sorrow is intensified to keep it alive.

The Man Who Never Took the Leap: A Story We Can All Relate To

August 29, 2022

There once was a man who never took the leap.

He almost did though. Once. When the perfect opportunity presented itself.

He was 26. He had an inkling of what really interested him. He had a little bit of money saved up–not much, but enough. His friends were encouraging, wanting to live vicariously through him. "You should! You should take the leap!"

There was just one problem.

He wasn’t quite sure.
