Why Aren’t Student Loans Bankruptable

Student loans are generally not dischargeable through bankruptcy in the United States for several reasons:

The Pitfalls of the Victim Mentality

Life is unfair. We all face challenges, setbacks, and difficulties that are out of our control. While we cannot control everything that happens to us, we can control how we respond. Adopting a victim mentality where we blame others or circumstances for our problems is disempowering and prevents us from taking responsibility for our lives.

The victim mentally leads us to see ourselves as powerless. We view life through a lens of “poor me” thinking. We may justify our challenges as being someone else’s fault and wait for others to swoop in and fix our problems. But this traps us in a cycle of negativity and prevents us from recognizing our own agency.

How long were you together when the physical abuse began and what did she do?

The physical abuse didn’t really start until a few years into the relationship. In retrospect, I can honestly see that it went in stages of her seeing how much she could get away with.

First, it started with constant criticism, then it turned to controlling my actions; who I could and couldn’t see, what I could do in my spare time etc… then it turned into verbal abuse and bullying and then finally it turned into regular physical violence.

There are several reasons. Horses develop problems in their hooves if they don’t move around enough or are forced to put weight on only 3 legs. You can think of their hoof as a giant fingernail, and the bone behind it is shaped like a wedge pointing forwards and towards the ground. Too much pressure on the other 3 hooves can cause severe pain, swelling, and separation of the bone from the hoof. 1. It’s hard to explain, but for me it’s that the sense of being part of some story where you are the protagonist kind of fizzles out unceremoniously and leaves you drifting for the rest of forever.

As a kid, you’re on a path, there’s a plan laid out for you, and whether you intentionally break from the plan or follow it to the letter, there’s this linear progression of growth, and an ultimate goal to strive for. You have allies, you have enemies, you have trials that you pass or fail, you have moments of catharsis, etc. You feel like part of a beautiful narrative, like the heroes in movies and books and tv shows and stories. You feel like there’s a right and a wrong way to go, and some ultimate fate waiting for you at the end that will sum up what all of it meant.
