What is an Antinatalist?

September 20, 2023

Antinatalist

Antinatalism is a philosophical position that assigns a negative value to birth or contends that it is morally wrong to bring sentient beings into existence. The whipping post was put into use around 1885 at the Baltimore City Jail, where until 1938, many of those convicted of wife-beating were punished.

In the early 20th century, Baltimore was among the few major American cities where judicial whipping persisted, primarily for violent offenses. The Baltimore City Jail had a whipping post in use since 1885, where many convicted of wife-beating were punished. A notable incident in 1938 saw Clyde Miller, a Baltimore printer, flogged 20 times with a cat o’ nine tails. This event marked the last use of Baltimore’s whipping post, which was specifically for punishing wife-beaters.

Whipping in Baltimore sparked significant public debate. Critics viewed it as a cruel and outdated punishment, while supporters believed it deterred crime. By the mid-1950s, legal challenges and criticism led to the abolition of whipping as a judicial punishment in Baltimore.

Which auto loan option is better?

2023 Mazda CX 30 select

About $27,000

$5,400 (20%) downpayment

2.9% 36mo loan vs 4.9% 60mo loan (manufacturer promo rates)

So it would be about $620 vs $400 monthly payment

I’d be paying nearly 3 times the amount in interest at the end of the day with the 60mo loan. But if I invested what I’d be saving with the lower monthly payment, would that outweigh the additional total interest paid over the life of the loan?

I know it’s possible that the market could go down while paying the car loan instead is a “guaranteed return” but I feel like a 5 year time span is likely to get a positive return?

15 People Reveal the Things They Wish They Learned Earlier in Life

September 19, 2023

  1. Don’t strain too hard or force a poop out, let it come out naturally as possible. Leads to hemorrhoids. I used to poop like it was a sport, learned my lesson after requiring surgery and regular visits to the proctologist. Wipe gently too y’all. Be nice to your buttholes.
  2. Keep your car maintained and drive it to the ground, no car payments are underrated
  3. How much just a little bit of exercise improves your health and well-being
  4. Don’t stay up late for anything for which you would not wake up early.
  5. You can do everything right and still not win. Some problems don’t have solutions.
  6. “It’s not what you say, it’s how you say it” It’s not enough for something to be said, if it cannot be received. In fact it’s a waste of breath and ultimately ineffective.
  7. Lower your expectations and let things surprise you. Be present, life’s short.
  8. What other people think of me isn’t my business and I shouldn’t let it affect me.
  9. Your worth is not based on whether or not you have a partner, a fancy job, a big house or a new car. Your worth is based in your own happiness and security. At this moment it’s your responsibility to your future self to do everything you can to make sure you are happy and secure. If that means shaking up your life at the core to make yourself happy and get negative life sucking people out of your life, do it. We only get one chance to live this life (as far as I know).
  10. If someone self identifies as a bitch/ass hole, believe them.
  11. Always take care of your health first. Nothing and I mean nothing matters more. All three tripods of health: Physical, Mental, and Emotional.
  12. You would be astonished how much of what’s happening to you requires your active participation. Once you learn that you can just say no and walk away and there’s nothing anyone can do about it you gain an amazing amount of power and self-confidence.
  13. You have to work to keep friendships and relationships alive.
  14. If you have a relationship/friendship that centers around an addiction you have a relationship with the addiction, not the person.
  15. Learn how to accurately identify, deal with and or avoid people with antisocial personality types aka people on the narcissistic/sociopathic/psychopathic spectrums. It’s much more common and inconspicuous than people think- these people can and will ruin your life before you even know it.
