How Does One Accrue Over $1 Million in Student Loan Debt?

I went to dental school and did a residency. I have about $200k of debt from college, $500k from dental school and about $300k from my residency.

I make $105,000 / year. I don’t have any other loans. My rent is $900/month (with utilities). Food costs about $500 / month.

I have a car and that costs about $400/month for the insurance and to lease it from the dealer. I should have mentioned this earlier but I am NOT a full time endodontist.

If you’ve ever drank the Kool-Aid of one of those ” How to get ridiculously rich and passively become a millionaire in thirty days with no money down by working 4 hours per week from your kitchen table in your bathrobe” best sellers, or promotions you see every other person on facebook peddling these days…chances are you are in worse financial shape now then when you started.

I see people posting income claims from offers that would fall into this category on social media daily.

1. The best salesperson I know is the owner of the company I’m at now. This is what I’ll say about him.

His sales technique is okay. He asks decent questions, doesn’t spend a ton of time expanding on pain points, and can even be sometimes annoying when talking to a prospect (he’s old and likes to knowledge dump).

But the reason he is so good at sales, is because he is wildly popular, and even more passionate about the product. If you’re in our industry, you know him. He’s a magnificent networker and very enthusiastic. Because of that, he doesn’t have to focus so much on technique. He has friends and referral partners that believe in the product as much as he does, and this translates to the customer.

Why Has Dating Become Increasingly Hard For Men Nowadays?

  • Online dating has expanded the potential candidates so you’re competing with literally everyone in your area and even tourists. This leads to people (particularly hetero women) being pickier as they try and filter through what is now likely hundreds of potential partners
  • The above also leads to the “grass is greener” mentality; rather than try to give a chance to someone who isn’t 100% compatible with you or to make things work when the going gets tough, it’s easier to just think that there’s someone out there “perfectly compatible” for you and that “you’ll just know and it won’t be an effort at all”
  • Online dating has also opened up the pool to creeps and people with issues that historically might have been ostracized or at least not people who frequented the average dating pool. As a result, women are more exposed to these types of toxic, violent, creepy men and are more wary of men in general.
  • Women are less dependent on men financially (relative to previous decades) so now they’re choosing their partners based on different criteria or just choosing to stay single until their criteria are met.
