Happiness Is A Choice

March 6, 2023

(photo: @phammi)

We all want to be happy.

We all want to experience joy, love, and abundance on a daily basis.

We all want to live the best life possible.

But very few of us actually know how to achieve the goal of lifelong happiness.

We are always thinking once we get this done or accomplish that goal… then we’ll be happy.

This was me:

Once I graduate high school then get into college then I’ll be happy…

Once I graduate college then get a job I’ll be happy…

Once I get this promotion then I’ll be happy…

Once I make enough to retire then I’ll be happy…

Once I get a date then I’ll be happy…

Stop Apologizing For Being Yourself

March 1, 2023

(photo: @darpandodiya)

I’ve got a simple question for you: Who are you?

Look, this is not a job interview or any type of interview.

I’m not looking for a politically correct answer. “I’m a person who’s serious about his career. I like to spend time with my family and friends.” That’s true for every single person who is determined enough to have a job.

No, I’m talking about who you truly are — deep down.

Because let’s face it, you and I both know that we all have two personalities, who live two different lives. There’s the life we want to live, and then there’s the life we’re actually living.

9 Rules I Learned About Life From Getting Old

February 6, 2023

1) People matter the most

I cannot emphasize this enough. Life is short. Relationships are valuable, especially those healthy ones that make you a better person. The older I get the more I prioritize my time to spend it with the people who I love. This means trips back home to my parent’s house, doing activities my friends want to do even if I am not super excited about it (an example would be shopping. I am a girl who hates to shop but loves my friends so I end up at malls a bit.), or even just staying in and having people over. I rarely say no when someone wants to hang out. Their happiness is my own, and I want to encourage them in their happiness.

15 Things You Should Give Up to Turn Your Dreams into Reality

December 30, 2022

There are times in life where everyone feels tired and weighed down. Every day we work for our goals and dreams, but it feels like we’re running in quicksand. Of course, we knew the journey would be long and treacherous. But we never expected it to be this long or this treacherous.

You think to yourself, “maybe I need more gusto, a little more oomph.” But what if you need to lighten the load? Sometimes, the key to achieving your dreams is releasing the baggage you carry. You don’t need to pick up more stones. Focus on the essentials and let go of the rest.

Many of these things you can give up today, while others will require work. But remember, “if you can dream it, you can do it.”

The Beginners Guide To Goal Setting

December 14, 2022

Setting goals is a fundamental component to long-term success. The basic reason for this is that you can’t get where you are trying to go until you clearly define where that is. Research studies show a direct link between goals and enhanced performance in business. Goals help you focus and allocate your time and resources efficiently, and they can keep you motivated when you feel like giving up.

10 Things Not Taught In High School

December 13, 2022

Rule 1: Life is not fair – get used to it!

Rule 2: The world won’t care about your self-esteem. The world will expect you to accomplish something BEFORE you feel good about yourself.

Rule 3: You will NOT make $60,000 a year right out of high school. You won’t be a vice-president with a car phone until you earn both.

Social Media Is Ruining Your Self-Esteem

November 21, 2022

It’s 7am and you hear your iPhone start buzzing through your heavy slumber. It’s your alarm. You have to be at work in thirty minutes. You shut off your alarm, but you don’t set down your phone to get ready.

The first thing you do is open up your Instagram app. It’s a natural habit at this point to check your social media when you get up in the morning.

Not Apologizing When You Succeed Or Complaining When You Fail

November 7, 2022

“The greatest form of maturity is at harvest time. This is when we must learn how to reap without complaint if the amounts are small and how to reap without apology if the amounts are big.” — Jim Rohn

Don’t apologize when you succeed.

Don’t complain or blame when you fail.

Completely own and take responsibility for what you’ve attracted into your life. Said Dr. Stephen R. Covey, “We control our actions, but the consequences that flow from those actions are controlled by principles.”

You cannot change your situation until you own that you’ve contributed to your situation.

When you take responsibility for what is happening in your life, you’re no longer the victim of circumstances. You no longer have to be a reactive object being acted upon by your environment. Instead, you can proactively act as an agent who impacts and changes your circumstances.

Life Advice From A 60-Year-Old Man

October 24, 2022

(photo: @wadeaustinellis)

I keep hearing about “adulting” and how hard it is. Well, it is hard and doesn’t get easier.

At almost 60, I still get scared, overwhelmed and don’t know what to do sometimes. I still have sleepless nights and wonder what the hell I’m going to do about some situations.

The difference is I can use my experience in prior situations to assess the current one. Or, even better, I have a circle of family/friends/professionals that I can go to for advice. Ones that I trust, not the one on the next barstool or such.
