Scarlett Johansson really approached random men while filming Under the Skin (2013), asking them “Are you single? What are you doing tonight?” and offering them a lift. None of them were actors and some of the footage ended up in the film.

A lovelorn workman has described the moment he thought he had ‘hit the jackpot’ when a beautiful brunette van driver stopped and asked him: ‘Are you single?’

grizzly bear

Grizzly bears were so feared and respected by Native Americans that hunting them required a company of 4 to 10 warriors and was done with the same preparation and ceremoniality as intertribal warfare

Native American tribes whose territories overlapped with those of grizzly bears often viewed them with a mixture of awe and fear. North American brown bears were so feared by the Natives that they were rarely hunted, especially alone. When Natives hunted grizzlies, the act was done with the same preparation and ceremoniality as intertribal warfare, and was never done except with a company of 4 to 10 warriors. The tribe members who dealt the killing blow were highly esteemed among their compatriots. Californian Indians actively avoided prime bear habitat, and would not allow their young men to hunt alone, for fear of bear attacks. During the Spanish colonial period, some tribes, instead of hunting grizzlies themselves, would seek aid from European colonists to deal with problem bears. Many authors in the American west wrote of Natives or voyagers with lacerated faces and missing noses or eyes due to attacks from grizzlies.

golden-crowned flying fox.

Meet the biggest bat in the world, the Philippines’ giant golden-crowned flying fox.

These guys can get incredibly large with the golden-crowned flying fox (Acerodon jubatus)—who can develop wingspans of more than 5 feet across—being among the biggest of them all. But the one seen in the photo looks extra big because of the image’s forced perspective which is an optical illusion that can make an object in a photo look bigger or smaller than its true size.

30mm round A-10 Warthog

30mm round from a General Electric GAU-8/A Avenger, which is a hydraulically driven seven-barrel Gatling-type auto cannon that arms an A-10 Warthog. The Avenger fires these anti-tank rounds at a rate of 3,600 rounds per minute

The GAU-8 Avenger fires up to sixty one-pound bullets a second. It produces almost five tons of recoil force, which is crazy considering that it’s mounted in a type of plane (the A-10 “Warthog”) whose two engines produce only four tons of thrust each. If you put two of them in one aircraft, and fired both guns forward while opening up the throttle, the guns would win and you’d accelerate backward. To put it another way: If I mounted a GAU-8 on my car, put the car in neutral, and started firing backward from a standstill, I would be breaking the interstate speed limit in less than three seconds. boy saved sister from dog attack

Boy saved his sister from a vicious dog attack

"Hey, all. Please, share my nephew’s story so that it gets as much exposure as it can. We know that our little hero would love some words of encouragement from his favorite heroes. On July 9th, my six year old nephew Bridger saved his little sister’s life by standing between her and a charging dog. After getting bit several times on the face and head, he grabbed his sister’s hand and ran with her to keep her safe. He later said, “If someone had to die, I thought it should be me.” After receiving 90 stitches (give or take) from a skilled plastic surgeon, he’s finally resting at home. We love our brave boy and want all the other superheroes to know about this latest hero who joined their ranks."
