The New York Giants running back is listed at 6’0”, 230 pounds.

In college, at Penn State, Barkley showed his strength by setting a football team record with a 405-pound power clean, and he ranked third on the all-time heaviest squat list. Barkley’s nickname in the NFL is “Quads” or “Sa-Quads” because of his muscular legs, and over the years he’s found some workouts that help him stay that way.

Soldier survives 15,000 ft fall as parachute fails to open correctly. The soldier did not suffer any serious or life-threatening injuries.

The incident occurred in the late afternoon of July 7 when residents of the neighborhood saw the parachutist falling toward their homes under a partially-open canopy. The paratrooper reportedly hit the tile roof of the home and fell right through. The home’s residents were out at the time, but he was quickly found by a neighbor who immediately called emergency services

The paratrooper was found conscious, though stunned, and while he complained of some pain, he had no visible injuries, according to a statement from the Atascadero Police Department. The city’s fire and emergency services personnel treated the parachutist and transported him to a nearby hospital.

The paratrooper was purportedly taking part in a High Altitude Low Opening (HALO) jump. Designed as an infiltration technique, a HALO jump typically involves a parachutist in full gear jumping out of an airplane at high altitudes and then opening their parachute once they’re closer to the ground.

Woman Holds Her Own Heart Following Successful Heart Transplant Surgery

Penny Smith, 35, received her heart transplant in September 2012. She had known for years that she might one day need one.

"I was 3 and a half when I was diagnosed with non-Hodgkins T-cell lymphoma and I went into remission at age 6," she told the Daily News. "From there in 1994 I developed a heart problem, which my mom knew about. (The doctors) had told her when I went through chemo that I would have it."

Doctors monitored her condition closely over the years, but, Smith says, "I went downhill in 2007. I couldn’t breathe, I could barely walk.

Triboulet

Triboulet was a jester for Louis XII (King of France from 1498 to 1515) who is perhaps most famous for slapping the king on the butt.

This act greatly angered the king and he threatened to have Triboulet executed. After taking a moment to calm down, the king decided to spare Triboulet’s life if he could think of an apology that was more offensive than what he just did to the king.

Triboulet went on to say: “I’m so sorry, your majesty, that I didn’t recognize you! I mistook you for the Queen!”

residential school canada

Indigenous children forced to pray to god in a residential school ran by the Canadian government and Catholic Church

This photo was taken at the Bishop Horden Memorial School aka Moose Factory Indian Residential School on Moose Factory Island, Ontario at the southern end of James Bay.

It was operated from 1906 to 1976 by the Anglican Church as part of the network of Indian Residential Schools.

Acts like these were common; children were forced to worship in the manner of whatever church was running them. Non-compliance resulted in beatings.

Canadians are finally realizing the cultural genocide that occurred at these “schools “.

Franca-Viola

This is Franca Viola, an Italian woman who became famous in the 1960s for publicly refusing to accept the twisted tradition of marrying her rapist.⁣

Instead, Viola fought against the law and was able to successfully prosecute her rapist. Her actions became a catalyst for the emancipation of women in post-war Italy and defied the traditional societal norms of southern Italy, in which a woman was deemed to have lost her honor if she did not marry the man who took her virginity.⁣

Refusing to do the Nazi salute, 1936.

Michelangelo's Moses

This is the right forearm of Michelangelo’s Moses (c. 1513–1515) statue.

The arrow points to a small muscle called the extensor digiti minimi, which only contracts when the pinky is lifted, otherwise it is invisible.

Most of Michelangelo’s sculptures are painstakingly detailed and you can clearly see his obsession with the human body, which he saw as a physical representation of the soul. Michelangelo always preferred sculpting over painting.
