Amou Haji, an 83-year-old Iranian, is considered by many as the world’s dirtiest man. Amou claims that he has not bathed in over 65 years. According to Amou, he is scared of water and this is the reason why he has not taken a shower in over six decades.

Local villagers who are obviously very familiar with Haji, explained that the 87-year-old who is covered in ash and dirt refuses to bathe because he is scared of water.

What is even more unusual is that his diet consists of rotten meat of dead animals, especially porcupines. He also enjoys smoking but it is not tobacco he prefers. He likes to smoke animal feces out of a rusty pipe.

Villagers explained that Haji has emotional trauma from when he was younger. This drove him to find solace in living a bizarre life alone.

Stock exchange trader at the end of the day on Black Monday, Toronto 1987

On that single day, the Dow Jones Industrial Average, the pulse rate of the most prominent stock market in the world, fell a heart-stopping 22.6 percent, still the largest one-day decline in Wall Street history.

Until 1987, a very bad day in the stock market meant a decline of 4 or 5 percent. A horrible day meant a drop of 10 or 11 percent, a figure exceeded only during the historic crash of 1929. Then, on Black Monday, the unthinkable suddenly became unforgettable, a market crash so steep and so fast it seemed that the entire financial system would simply shake apart like an airplane plunging to earth.

major dick winters

Major Dick Winters, commander of the 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 101st Airborne Division, Holland, 1944

“To be a good leader, you must do everything in your power for the good of your men and to train your men with the goal in mind of making them the best unit possible, better than any other platoon, company, battalion.”

“To accomplish this, you must be like a good mother taking care of her children. You must set a good example, be the first one up in the morning and the last to go to bed at night. To accomplish this you must also be like a good father, setting a good example of being up front and visible with the men before an attack and staying with the attack until it is over.”

Maximilian-Kolbe

80 years ago, Catholic priest Maximilian Kolbe volunteered to die at Auschwitz in the place of a man who cried out for his family. He was canonized in 1982, and the man he saved was at his ceremony

On February 17, 1941, his monastery was shut down by the German authorities. Kolbe and four others were arrested by the Gestapo and imprisoned in the Pawiak prison. On May28, he was transferred to Auschwitz as prisoner 16670.

Continuing to act as a priest, Kolbe was subjected to violent harassment, including beating and lashings.

At the end of July 1941, one prisoner escaped from the camp, prompting SS-Hauptsturmführer Karl Fritzsch, the deputy camp commander, to pick ten men to be starved to death in an underground bunker to deter further escape attempts. When one of the selected men, Franciszek Gajowniczek, cried out, "My wife! My children!", Kolbe volunteered to take his place.

The Grateful Dead’s “Wall of Sound” was a massive sound system designed by LSD chemist, Owsley Stanley. Jr.

The Wall of Sound fulfilled Owsley’s desire for a distortion-free sound system that could also serve as its own monitoring system.

After Stanley got out of prison in late 1972, he, Dan Healy and Mark Raizene of the Grateful Dead’s sound crew, in collaboration with Ron Wickersham, Rick Turner, and John Curl of Alembic, combined six independent sound systems using eleven separate channels, in an effort to deliver high-quality sound to audiences.

Vocals, lead guitar, rhythm guitar, and piano each had their own channel and set of speakers.

eugenia cooney

Eugenia Cooney is an American YouTuber and Twitch streamer who’s YouTube channel has garnered over two million subscribers

In October 2016, petitions were made to ban her from YouTube as some internet users believed she was promoting dangerous eating habits, and creating pro anorexia content. Around that time, Cooney stated that she did not have an eating disorder and refrained from discussing her weight and eating habits.

Pro-anorexia (pro-ana) groups differ widely in their stances. Most claim that they exist mainly as a non-judgmental environment for anorexics; a place to turn to, to discuss their illness, and to support those who choose to enter recovery. Others deny anorexia nervosa is a mental illness and claim instead that it is a “lifestyle choice” that should be respected by doctors and family.

Gary Plauche

Just moments after news cameras captured this image, Louisiana dad Gary Plauche stepped up to the man who’d kidnapped and raped his young son – and shot him dead on live TV

“If somebody did it to your kid, you’d do it, too.”

On March 16, 1984, Jeff Doucet was led through Baton Rouge Metropolitan Airport in handcuffs. He had just been arrested in California after kidnapping 12-year-old Jody Plauché, bringing him to the West Coast, and repeatedly molesting him in an Anaheim motel room.

The US Marines are testing flying, remote-controlled drone grenades

Images shared online by the United States Marine Corps this week show Marines conducting training exercises with the Drone40, a miniaturized, low-cost, expendable drone that can be deployed by hand or launched from a 40mm grenade launcher. While other nations have deployed the Drone40 in overseas operations, this is the first time U.S. troops have been seen training with the versatile, potentially game-changing unmanned systems, which can carry a wide variety of payloads, including various sensors or small high-explosive warheads.
