Richard Fierro, the Army vet that took down the Colorado Springs shooter
Fierro went to Club Q in Colorado Springs on Saturday night to celebrate a friend’s birthday with his family, enjoying a drag show that included a performance by his 22-year-old daughter’s best friend.
By night’s end, the air of celebration would be cut off by gunfire. Three of Fierro’s loved ones would be shot — one fatally — and Fierro, a U.S. Army veteran, would find himself rushing to confront and subdue the gunman.
“I had my whole Colorado Springs family in there. I had to do something. He was not going to kill my family,” Fierro said.

The Price of Taylor Swift Tickets
To put these numbers in context, tickets to last season’s Super Bowl between the Los Angeles Rams and the Cincinnati Bengals at SoFi Stadium in LA averaged $10,427, with the cheapest seats going for about $7,000.
A StubHub representative told CNN Business Wednesday that the resale site had many Swift tickets selling for around “$150 with averages around mid $600.” However, they noted that it’s only the pre-sale period right now “so demand is at its highest and these prices will settle.”
The company also pointed out that “that listing prices aren’t an indication of demand or what the market can bear.”
As for Ticketmaster, the company issued a statement Tuesday via Twitter saying that “there has been historically unprecedented demand with millions showing up” to buy tickets for Swift’s tour. The company told customers still waiting in the virtual queue that it is moving and to “hang tight.”

In Ancient China, there was a form of execution called waist chop. Just like its name, it entails a person being literally chopped in half from the waist.
It was reserved only for the most serious criminals since many people did not die immediately after being chopped.
In 1734, Yu Hongtu (俞鴻圖), the Education Administrator of Henan, was sentenced to a waist chop. After being cut in two at the waist, he remained alive long enough to write the Chinese character cǎn (慘; "horrible") seven times with his own blood before dying. After hearing this, the Yongzheng Emperor abolished this form of execution.

Bazooka Vespa – The Vespa 150 TAP scooter was intended for use by French paratroops and armed with a 75 mm recoilless rifle
The 150 TAPs mounted a M20 75 mm recoilless rifle, a U.S.-made light anti-armour weapon. It was very light in comparison to a standard 75 mm cannon but was still able to penetrate 100 mm of armour with its HEAT warhead. The recoil was counteracted by venting propellant gases out the rear of the weapon which eliminated the need for a mechanical recoil system or heavy mount.

The Great St. Bernard Hospice in Switzerland has existed for nearly 1,000 years as a safe haven for needy travelers and pilgrims. Photo is from 1913.
The St Bernard dog breed was created at the hospice from cross-breeding dogs, probably those offered by families in Valais in the 1660s and 1670s.
The first definite mention of the breed is in 1709. The breed was originally raised to provide guard dogs for the hospice, before they became mountain rescue dogs.
