I photograph a lot of people. Almost everyone believes they are ugly. Your grandmother. Your child. Your best friend. Most models. Most actors. Maybe even you.

“Oh, don’t take my photo, I’ll break your camera!” laughs the 80-year-old grandfather. When he dies a few months later, his grandkids will treasure this reminder of his “ugly mug.”

I had one client a few years ago who blamed all of his life’s shortcomings on the fact that his father had been largely absent during his childhood.

Having emotionally unavailable parents is a hinderance, no doubt. So is having one of your best friends die. So is being raped. So is being bullied for years. So are a lot of things that happen to people, every day, around the world.

Why You Must Stop Overthinking & Start Taking Action

The only reason you haven’t started taking action yet is that you’re in analysis paralysis or afraid of what other people will think.

When you continue to analyze each possible outcome it stops you in your tracks. It’s normal to think things through till the end but when you stay in thinking mode you never take action. It’s okay to fail, you’ll get better anyway.

The Story Of The Chinese Farmer

Once upon a time there was a Chinese farmer whose horse ran away. That evening, all of his neighbors came around to commiserate. They said, “We are so sorry to hear your horse has run away. This is most unfortunate.” The farmer said, “Maybe.” The next day the horse came back bringing seven wild horses with it, and in the evening everybody came back and said, “Oh, isn’t that lucky.
