Overcoming The Need To Be Liked

April 25, 2023

There are way too many opinions and too many voices in this world. However, have you ever considered that you don’t have to pay mind to everything?

Silence can be a gift, and you need wisdom to know when it is necessary. Sometimes, we have to let go of everything we hear and go on with our lives, not caring about what other people might think about us.

If You Have To Look For Reasons To Accept Yourself, You’ll Never Find Them

April 21, 2023

How many times have you looked in the mirror and had one of these thoughts?

  • “I’ll stop hating myself when I reach weight X.”
  • “When have job title X I’ll be happy”
  • “When I get a girlfriend/boyfriend I’ll be happy”
  • “When I fix personality flaw X I’ll be good enough”

That’s called conditional self-love. It’s attaching your self worth to some tiny fraction of who you are. Not only is it toxic, it makes the journey towards your goals miserable.

wasting your time

If you’re anything like me, you’re trying to make the most of your time. You realize that it’s your most limited and precious resource, and you can’t get it back once it’s gone. You’re also tired of people telling you that social media is a time-waster because you already know that. That’s not news to anyone.

Embrace Discomfort And Move Toward Adversity

how to be a man

Today, our lives have become too comfortable.

We dwell in climate-controlled havens where discomfort and boredom are rare occurrences, not the norm.

We can order food at a click, seek instant gratification in fleeting pleasures, and indulge in endless streams of dopamine-triggering content.

Yet, this ease is gradually eroding our well-being.

We have grown fearful of taking risks, avoiding discomfort, and recoiling from minor setbacks.

How to Make Peace with Your Past

How to Make Peace with Your Past

The only way to make peace with your past is to look it straight in the eye. For the majority of us, when we look back the past seems tinged with negativity. For every joyful moment there are many more regrets. For every memory of laughter there is a nagging sense of fear or anxiety.

“How many times do we pay for one mistake?”

April 3, 2023

The four agreements mistake

“How many times do we pay for one mistake? The answer is thousands of times. The human is the only animal on earth that pays a thousand times for the same mistake. The rest of the animals pay once for every mistake they make. But not us. We have a powerful memory. We make a mistake, we judge ourselves, we find ourselves guilty, and we punish ourselves. If justice exists, then that was enough; we don’t need to do it again. But every time we remember, we judge ourselves again, we are guilty again, and we punish ourselves again, and again, and again. If we have a wife or husband he or she also reminds us of the mistake, so we can judge ourselves again, punish ourselves again, and find ourselves guilty again. Is this fair?”

The 7 Definitive Habits of Likeable People

March 24, 2023

habits of likeable people

We learn early on in life (in childhood and, if not, definitely when we enter the workplace after education) that a lot of our success boils down to how likeable we are.

The ‘likeability’ factor is often underestimated, with the majority of our attention given to the acquisition of new abilities and skills. Whilst there are important considerations, being likeable trumps them all because it works on a much deeper level. After all, life and business are social enterprises – in order to achieve our goals, we are going to need the help of others, and the help of others depends on them liking us.

How To Hate Yourself Less: Stop Living Someone Else's Life

“I’m a failure because I don’t have a good job. Because I haven’t found a special someone yet. Because my body isn’t the right shape. Because I’m poor. Who I am is not good enough.”

Why do so many people relate to those words? Why is the default mental narrative of so many people “I’m a failure and I have no hope of getting better”?

Either You Challenge Yourself Or Life Will Do It For You

March 8, 2023

life is hard

(photo: @morsha)

Life is hard. I don’t think anyone’s going to argue against that. There will always be challenges.

You have two options:

  1. You choose you challenges. You push yourself. You go after what you want. You make it happen. It will be hard work, but you get to chose where you go and become the active driver of your life.

  2. You do nothing and wait until life throws something at you. Then you’re on defense. You’re unprepared and just doing your best to stay afloat. You’re unprepared and unpracticed because you’ve spent all of your time dicking around.

The choice is yours.

Happiness Is A Choice

March 6, 2023

(photo: @phammi)

We all want to be happy.

We all want to experience joy, love, and abundance on a daily basis.

We all want to live the best life possible.

But very few of us actually know how to achieve the goal of lifelong happiness.

We are always thinking once we get this done or accomplish that goal… then we’ll be happy.

This was me:

Once I graduate high school then get into college then I’ll be happy…

Once I graduate college then get a job I’ll be happy…

Once I get this promotion then I’ll be happy…

Once I make enough to retire then I’ll be happy…

Once I get a date then I’ll be happy…
