What the Movie Robocop Was Really Trying to Say

Robocop - Bitches Leave

In 1987, audiences were introduced to a futuristic Detroit, a city plagued by crime and corporate greed, through the lens of Paul Verhoeven’s “RoboCop.”

At first glance, the film might seem like a straightforward action-packed sci-fi thriller, but beneath its metallic exterior lies a biting satire that delves deep into the socio-political issues of the era.

Forgiveness Is the Gift You Give Yourself

February 28, 2024

Forgiveness is often mistakenly seen as a gift we bestow upon the offender, a way to absolve them of their wrongdoing.

How Many Red Flags Can You Spot?

February 28, 2024

I am a F (39) who became pregnant in my last relationship (birth control failure). Roe vs Wade was overturned about a week before I found out, though I really don’t know what I would have chosen.

Irregardless, that relationship has ended, and I am ready to enter the dating scene again. I’m not getting any younger, after all! And admittedly it would be nice to not go through it alone.

I just don’t know if there’s any point in putting myself out there while I’m still pregnant… should I wait until after the baby is born and recovery is finished? Or would you date a woman who was already pregnant when you met? Any advice or feedback is much appreciated!

For info, I just started my last trimester (with a boy) if it’s relevant, and I have 3 older children from a previous marriage F(15), F(13), and F(5). So I would obviously only be dating someone who was ok with children in the first place.

49 Things They Never Told You About Being A Chef

February 27, 2024

When people are thinking of taking their first steps into kitchens, many around them are quick to give advice. They will warn of the toil involved, the strength of character and the stamina that are needed, the long hours… But however much warning is given, one is always quick to disregard it and shrug one’s shoulders because really, how hard can it be?

In my years working in kitchens I have seen hundreds come and go; eager at the start but quickly disenchanted and just as eager to get out. Only a small percentage of people who walk into the world of gastronomy stay there once faced with this harsh environment.

Below is a list that I compiled of all the realities of day to day life as a chef, based on my own experience as well as on my observations.

What you can expect from making a living in a professional kitchen:
