What’s So Special About The Neve 8028 Soundboard?

April 27, 2023

Neve 8028

MELISSA BLOCK: Let’s talk about that board. It’s a Neve 8028 soundboard and that was the studio console at Sound City. What was so great about it?

DAVE GROHL: Well, you know, that was a great era for recording equipment. The late ’60s and the ’70s, a lot of this really beautiful equipment was being made and installed into studios around the world and the Neve boards were considered like the Cadillacs of recording consoles.

joan of arc

19-year-old Joan of Arc is burned at the stake by an English tribunal. May 30, 1431

Joan of Arc, a peasant girl living in medieval France, believed that God had chosen her to lead France to victory in its long-running war with England.

With no military training, Joan convinced the embattled crown prince Charles of Valois to allow her to lead a French army to the besieged city of Orléans, where it achieved a momentous victory over the English and their French allies, the Burgundians.

After seeing the prince crowned King Charles VII, Joan was captured by Anglo-Burgundian forces, tried for witchcraft and heresy and burned at the stake in 1431, at the age of 19.

By the time she was officially canonized in 1920, the Maid of Orléans (as she was known) had long been considered one of history’s greatest saints, and an enduring symbol of French unity and nationalism.

9 Guys Who Were Sexually Assaulted By Women Reveal Their Story

April 26, 2023

1. When I was a private in the Army, a female friend in my unit became somewhat obsessive over me to the point of being a stalker after I rejected her advances. We had faulty locks on our barracks doors that could be opened with a pair of pliers.

She would casually break into my room and wait for me… so we could “talk about us.” She would normally leave if I told her to, so I didn’t think much of it.

Why Did The Soviet Union Collapse?

April 26, 2023

The biggest factor was nationalism. The USSR was one large super-state made up of many smaller states that had been independent countries in the past; sort of like the United States, if Texas, California, and Idaho had all spoken separate languages for centuries and considered themselves, to varying extents, different races before being united under one federal government.

Jean-Claude Van Damme with Frank Dux During The Filming Of Bloodsport

Frank Dux claims to hold several martial arts world records, including 56 knock-outs in a row and the fastest knockout punch ever thrown — but that only he can verify them because they happened at a covert martial arts tournament in the Bahamas.

And although the story of the tournament was later turned into the cult action classic “Bloodsport,” there is little evidence to back up Dux’s claims.

In fact, when he produced his prize cup for winning the underground championship, reporters found out that he had bought it himself at a trophy store in San Fernando Valley.

There Are No More Zero Days

April 26, 2023

(photo: @xangriffin)

What’s a zero day? A zero day is when you don’t do a single fucking thing towards whatever dream or goal or want or whatever that you got going on. No more zeros. I’m not saying you gotta bust an essay out everyday, that’s not the point. The point I’m trying to make is that you have to make yourself, promise yourself, that the new SYSTEM you live in is a NON-ZERO system. Didnt’ do anything all fucking day and it’s 11:58 PM? Write one sentence. One pushup. Read one page of that chapter. One. Because one is non zero. You feel me? When you’re in the super vortex of being bummed your pattern of behavior is keeping the vortex goin, that’s what you’re used to. Turning into productivity ultimate master of the universe doesn’t happen from the vortex. It happens from a massive string of CONSISTENT NON ZEROS. That’s rule number one. Do not forget.
