“I AM DOOM… DESTROYER OF WORLDS… WHAT GODS DARE STAND AGAINST ME?”

-DR. DOOM

Because Doom is a villain that is not a villain.

In short he was raised in a monarchy by Gypsy parents, both of whom died at an early age. His mother was a sorceress who was killed by a mob. Taking up her practices he battled Satan (Mephisto) yearly to try to save her soul from eternal damnation, and each year he would fail. In his mid teens he started a revolution against the oppressive regime until he got a scholarship to Empire State University.

How Much Harder Are Classes At An Ivy League School Compared To A Community College Or A State School?

ivy league vs community college

I graduated from Dartmouth in the 1990s so my info may be old. I also have taken several classes in both the sciences and humanities at public state schools such UC Berkeley, the University of Minnesota Twin Cities and my local California State University. The main difference as many answers here have noted is not so much the materials, instructors or professors, but the students’ abilities. Rather than giving statistics which you can google, here are my personal undergraduate experiences.

One of Charles Bell’s paintings of a casualty from the Battle of Corunna. It depicts a soldier suffering muscle contractions during the final stages of tetanus. The image was composed after Bell watched 3 soldiers suffer with the same condition

This drawing tells the wrinkled forehead; the elevated brow; the closed eye; the dilated nostril; the rigid masseter; the fixed jaw; the closed mouth; the corrugated lips; the bubbling saliva; the retracted head; the shortened neck; the starting cervical muscles; the turgid veins; the arched spine; the raised chest; the troubled breathing; the catching diaphragm; the heaving abdomen; the separated arm; the squared elbow; the bent wrist; the clenched fingers; the incurved thumb; the extended and separated legs; the bent down toes; the livid surface; the whole figure rigid as wood – a pitiful sight.

There Are No Silver Bullets

(photo: @seteales)

Three years now I have sat and waited. I’ve waited for my dreams to come to fruition. They haven’t. I’ve read books, watched videos, made plans, made better plans. My mindset has changed, and I can’t discount the value in that at all. I actually believe that mindset change is the first crucial step towards achievement. But that doesn’t mean I’ve reached those goals I’ve written down time and time again.

This art was done by a cave man 32,000 years ago

The World Heritage site of Chauvet Cave in southern France is famous for having the world’s oldest cave paintings.

When the cave was discovered in 1994, many scholars initially assumed that they must have been made around the same time as those at Lascaux, around 21,000 years ago.
