
How Did Half-Life Change The Gaming Industry?

Before half life came out shooters were very basic. They had a setting – demon infested Mars base, nazi castle etc and a few words on the back of the box to explain the why you were there.
The gameplay was fun but it was a case of finding the way to the end of the level so you could do the same on the next level maybe youd find a new gun or a secret area every few levels. Eventually after 20 levels of the same thing you’d fight a big boss that essentially just took more bullets to kill than other enemies and that was the end.

I thought if I did enough self improvement I would be happy. I thought that losing the weight, learning to beat procrastination, and practicing happiness affirmations would make me a content human being.
But my self love was conditional. I felt good when I made progress on my goals. It was great when I applied what I learned. But there are always setbacks.
And when you love yourself conditionally those setbacks are cause for brutal self evisceration.

You feel like a sharp object has hit you, it is running from your chest in a downward motion, it hurts like hell.
You are ripped open and the pain is unbearable but there’s no blood… on the outside.
In the inside, it’s your heart that has been punctured and ripped and the pressure you feel is like the blood from the hit wanting to rush out.
Everything inside feels immensely tight. The pressure is building and has nowhere to go.

What’s It Like To Be Gay And In Prison?

It depends on the man himself.
In CCA there was an openly gay Hispanic fellow, who I don’t believe spoke any English. The Hispanic guys doted on him. He was treated by a number of men the way you might expect they would treat a girlfriend. I saw his admirers bring him little gifts, candy purchased on commissary, the milk from their breakfast… They would save him a seat close to the TV, and made sure his laundry was tended to.

Joan Trumpauer Mulholland, a recipient of the 2015 National Civil Rights Museum Freedom Award, is a Civil Rights Icon who participated in over 50 sit-ins and demonstrations by the time she was 23 years old. She was a Freedom Rider, participant in the Jackson Woolworth’s Sit-in, the March on Washington, the Meredith March and the Selma to Montgomery March.
For her actions she was disowned by her family, attacked, shot at, cursed at, put on death row and hunted down by the Klan for execution. Her path has crossed with some of the biggest names in the Civil Rights Movement: Martin Luther King, Medgar Evers, Fannie Lou Hamer, John Lewis, Diane Nash and Julian Bond.
