Instead Of Saying “I Need To Do This”, Say “I Want To Do This”

August 31, 2023

When you wake up in the morning and see your room a mess do you typically look at your room and go “Ugh, Fuck i need to fix my room” You groan a bit then lazily clean your room just enough to look decent.

The reality however is that you want to clean your room. If you didn’t truly desire self improvement then you wouldn’t bother with things like this, as you technically don’t need to. So you want to clean your room but you don’t say it to yourself.

Next time try this. Wake up and say “I want to clean my room” “I want to get out of bed” “I want to do my work”.

10 People Reveal What They Love About Fishing

August 30, 2023

what do you love about fishing

1. Fishing is a way of being in symbiosis with nature. Not all the materials are “natural” but I feel while i am fishing, the life around you accepts you as part of that environment.

Your body slows and your mind focuses enough to be aware of all that is happening around you. You get to experience things you can’t plan to happen; an eagle swooping for a fish, a dolphin chasing mullet, sharks free swimming; observing intimate interactions between multiple species. I love it

Confessions Of A Woman In A Male Dominated Engineering Class

August 29, 2023

Being in the computer engineering field, I’m used to a certain difference in the number of guys to girls in my classes. Even in my first basic programming course there was like 100 guys to maybe 15 girls before a few of them dropped and we ended up with like 10 finishing the course.

A couple months ago, when I walked into Intro to Software Engineering, I saw… well, I saw a room full of 49 guys. And then there was me. Some of the guys I had taken classes with before and I knew, many were new faces.

What Are The Lessor Known Implications of Hearing Loss?

August 29, 2023

hearing loss

Something a lot of people, especially younger people, don’t realize about hearing loss is how much MORE there is to it than just “needing to listen to things louder when you’re old” or “some ringing” to varying degrees.

My father has hearing loss which he incurred on the job – he was a radio DJ in the 60s/70s and between the sound levels at work and the sound levels at concerts he went to for reviewing purposes, he did permanent damage to his hearing. Tinnitus is one element, hearing loss of certain frequencies is another.

Picture of the Day

August 29, 2023

This is Su filindeu (thread of gods), a pasta so difficult to prepare that only three women of a single Sardinian family know how to make it

The ingredients are simple: semolina wheat, water, and salt. The serving preparation is similarly uncomplicated: gamey mutton broth and a helping of tangy pecorino cheese. Making the pasta, however, is nearly impossible. Engineers from the Barilla pasta company attempted, unsuccessfully, to build a machine that could reproduce the technique. Celebrity chef Jamie Oliver also visited Sardinia in hopes of mastering the elusive noodle. After two hours, he gave up.

It’s ALL About Taking Responsibility

August 28, 2023

One of the biggest differences between me now and me 3 years ago is simple: I’ve taken responsibility for my life.

Now what I mean when I say taking responsibility, is accepting and taking ownership of my life.

I am responsible for my life, and everything that affects me is my responsibility to deal with.
