Too often, relationships become battlegrounds, fueled by the desire to be right, to prove our point, to emerge victorious. Words become weapons, hurled with the intent to wound, leaving trails of resentment and hurt. Yet, in this quest for victory, we lose sight of the true prize – the connection, the understanding, the love that binds us together.
Have you ever balled up your fists so tight for so long that your knuckles got all white, your nails started digging into your palms, and you were afraid you might be drawing blood? When letting your hands slowly open up feels almost unnatural after having them so tightly wound for so long? It kind of feels like that.
Before you meet the one, you’re going to meet a lot of other ones. Possibly one or two who make you think that the one doesn’t exist, or that you had the o\ne, and the one was actually some sort of Anakin Skywalker Darth Vader situation meant to “bring balance” to your life (i.e.: ruin it).
1. My experience of being loved by a girl is that it is an amazing feeling that is hard to describe concisely. She has accepted me for who I am, deemed me worthy, and has decided to make me a significant part of her life. In order for that to work, I am also accepting her and deeming her worthy enough for me. She is the person I think of first whenever I hear a new joke. If I taste something amazing, I make sure that she gets some if it too, because I want her to experience it. My happiness is somewhat bound to her happiness. Seeing her smile makes me smile. When she is not feeling well I want to be there to take care of her. Much of love is bundled up in the act of returning the love.

Remember when you were young and you thought love was this invincible, bulletproof force that was immune to outside influence, impervious to evil and capable of overcoming all obstacles? And, then you found out your girlfriend was sleeping with your best friend since a week after you met, and that bubble was ruptured, never to be restored again.
There comes a time in a man’s life when he should grow up and get serious about a relationship. Maybe that’s true for some, but surely that doesn’t mean you have to submit to the ways of a dominant and controlling woman, does it? You don’t have to cower in the corner with your emasculated tail between your legs. Hell no!
