Who Do You Want to Be, and How Do You Get There?

December 14, 2023

pain is temporary

Imagine it: a crystal ball, clear and cold, reflecting not your present face, but the one you’ll wear in 20 years. Intrigued? Terrified? Maybe both. Because peering into that future self raises a crucial question: who do you want to be, and what choices are paving the path there (or away)?

It’s tempting, even comforting, to assume our current selves are static entities, destined to morph into a slightly older, slightly grayer version. But that’s a recipe for mediocrity, a slow drift toward a future not chosen, but defaulted to. We are, in essence, builders, each brick of decision and habit laying the foundation for who we’ll become.

What’s So Great About Baldur’s Gate 3?

December 13, 2023

Baldur's gate 3

For RPG veterans, the mere mention of “Baldur’s Gate” conjures nostalgic memories of sprawling narratives, tactical combat, and companions who felt like living, breathing characters. Baldur’s Gate 3, the latest entry in this iconic series, doesn’t just live up to that legacy; it shatters expectations and redefines what an RPG can be in the year 2023.

Poll of the Day

December 13, 2023

Met my girlfriend in college, we’ve been together about a year. We both graduated in the spring and just last week started moving into a new apartment together. When I was helping her pack her apartment, I found a box with some sex toys in it. I knew that she had a vibrator and a dildo, but we never used them in bed so I hadn’t seen them.

It was very clear that this dildo wasn’t store bought, it was made from one of those cock mold kits. I pressed her about it a bit and she admitted that her ex had made it for her. At first she tried to play it off like she doesn’t use it, but eventually admitted that she uses it a few times a month.

She doesn’t want to throw it away because she says she likes the material more than other ones she’s tried. If it were just a regular dildo I wouldn’t care. To me, it’s not just a piece of rubber. They were together for two years in college, she was very in love with him, and he broke up with her. I know emotionally she’s totally over him but it feels like she still wants him sexually.

She says I’m being possessive and to stop being jealous of a piece of rubber. I feel like she’s basically been imagining having sex with him several times a month since we’ve been together. Am I just being irrational here or would other men have a problem with this too?

Why People-Pleasing Can Poison Your Relationships

December 13, 2023

We all know the “Yes Man,” the friend who agrees to anything, the coworker who never says no, the partner who bends over backwards to keep everyone happy. But beneath the veneer of helpfulness and agreeableness lurks a hidden monster: the perils of being a people-pleaser.

Signs That a Man Is in an Abusive Relationship

December 13, 2023

  • He becomes more withdrawn from friends and family

  • He actively avoids talking about himself and changes the subject if people try to ask. Other than a generic “doing ok” or equivalent, he will conspicuously avoid talking about any of his personal life (unless you can get him onto a topic like a hobby that he’s really into. But general personal life / relationship stuff? That’s often a no-go).

The Art of Gifting, Not Lending: Why Money and Family Don’t Always Mix

December 13, 2023

Family. The very word conjures up images of unconditional love, support, and shared histories. It’s also, sometimes, the trickiest terrain for navigating finances. One area notoriously fraught with tension? Loans.

The sentiment “Never loan money to family. Gift it but don’t loan it” may sound harsh, but hear me out. It’s not about denying help or severing ties. It’s about protecting yourself, preserving relationships, and approaching support with clear-eyed wisdom.

Here’s why gifting might be the more sustainable solution:
