At the age of 18, Lambert began working as a prison guard and was much respected for his ability to befriend and help rehabilitate many of the prisoners. Despite being physically active, abstaining from alcohol, and not eating large amounts of food, Lambert continued to steadily gain weight. By 1805, he weighed a whopping 700 lbs. (320 kgs).

It all started 40 years ago thanks to a Hollywood actress. After the fall of Saigon in 1975, Tippi Hedren, an actress famous for starring in Alfred Hitchcock’s movies in the 1960s, visited a Vietnamese refugee camp in Sacramento.
When she noticed the women there admired her long, polished nails, she recognized an opportunity to teach them a new trade: manicure.
It made a lot of sense: a manicure business demands very little capital to start, and good English communication isn’t a required skill for manicurists.

A New Orleans restaurant has been owned by the same family since 1840. Antoine’s, famous for Oyster Rockefeller and Baked Alaska, has had five generations of the family run it, and a sixth is preparing to take over. It is the US’s oldest continuously family-run restaurant.
The current owner, Rick Blount, describes Antoine’s food as “Haute Creole”, characterized as innovative and sophisticated Creole cooking with strong French traditions. The restaurant has a non-seasonal à-la-carte menu that features dishes with regional influences such as turtle, pompano, redfish, and shellfish, with preparation techniques that reflect a French aesthetic. Throughout its history and changing menus, Antoine’s has had very little Cajun influence, and featured no Italian foods.
Why You Need to Go Out and Get Rejected

Why do you take rejection so personally? Why does it hurt you so much – for days, weeks, months, or even years?
The short answer is because you just haven’t been rejected enough. You haven’t survived through it enough times to be able to say, “Hey, that wasn’t so bad.”
The long answer is because when you’ve worked so hard to protect yourself, anything that threatens your ego is devastating.

The Ramblings Of A Psychotic ‘Nice Guy’
I received these journals (and pen, don’t forget the pen!) plus flowers, candy and a huge stuffed bear from my former cubicle neighbor at a job I worked at for 3 years. As you’ll see, the guy is fucking nuts.
These are just a selection. Most of the entries (221 total) are rather mundane, just notating what I wear, and anything that pops into his crazy head that he feels I want to hear him blather on about.
Our cubicles were next to each other the whole time I worked at this firm. We were kinda friendly the first six months I was there. Then he asked me on a date. I very politely declined. I was very firm that I don’t date co-workers and what-not.
After that, besides for a friendly hello, he said almost nothing to me. We were on different teams, so it wasn’t a big deal to me.
But after I turned him down, he started keeping this journal. This entry also takes a turn into the crazy end. Up until now he called me pet names and talked as if we were currently dating.
This is the first time he really reveals that he’s planned the rest of our lives out for us. The last 9 months of the journals get really bad.
