The Golden Rules of Prison

December 27, 2023

My younger brother is being hit with 2 felonies due to motor vehicle accident. This will be his first time in jail and really in the system in any way, he grew up in the burbs and isn’t about that life (street fighting, having a rough go). My older brother and I grew up in East Los Angeles and knew early on that we wanted out and did our best to not engage and keep out of gang life, we succeeded for the most part. Anyway, I’m worried for my younger brother, he’s genuinely a good kid, just young and irresponsible and is facing the consequences of his actions, as he knows and owns up to them. I want to get him as prepped as possible for what he might be facing. Debating boxing lessors or even Krav Maga.. please tell me your thoughts, recommendations, opinions. How can I prepare myself, my mother and my younger brother for the possible things he may face. His sentence is under 2 years.

Between Life and Death: Analyzing the Symbolic Narrative of ‘Jacob’s Ladder’

December 26, 2023

Jacob's Ladder

The 1990 psychological horror film Jacob’s Ladder pioneered the genre with its nightmarish imagery and ambiguous, fragmented storytelling. Many viewers walked away from the film disoriented by its surrealism and enigmatic ending. But looking closer at the themes and story reveals a cohesive, if complex, exploration of war trauma and grief. Let’s break down the symbolism in Jacob’s Ladder to make sense of its seemingly impenetrable horrors.

What’s So Great About Baldur’s Gate 3?

December 13, 2023

Baldur's gate 3

For RPG veterans, the mere mention of “Baldur’s Gate” conjures nostalgic memories of sprawling narratives, tactical combat, and companions who felt like living, breathing characters. Baldur’s Gate 3, the latest entry in this iconic series, doesn’t just live up to that legacy; it shatters expectations and redefines what an RPG can be in the year 2023.

Wow, Just Wow!

December 12, 2023

My wife and I have been together for nearly 8 years, married for two. In the time that I’ve known her she has had 6 vehicles. Her car note has increased from $200 to $800 in that time. I used to work in the car finance industry (so I know a lot about how the numbers work), but no matter what I say she keeps getting manipulated by this particular salesman into buying multiple vehicles from him (3 so far). I’m at a loss here…idk what to do. I negotiated for 6 hours with this guy the first time we bought from him, and she’s gone on her own for the rest of the vehicles.

Navigating Codependency with a Parent While Prioritizing Your Marriage

December 11, 2023

Wife kicked out my mother, need advice!

I(27m) got married to my wife(28f) last year and since the beginning things weren’t smooth between mom and wife.

Lil background – My mom(47f) raised me alone by herself as a single mother, dad was alcoholic abusive, She left him when I was 2, Mom was also pregnant with second child at that time but she opted out, so it’s only me and her all my life. Mom worked multiple low wage jobs to raise me, paid for my college(which exhausted her savings entirely) and when I started earning good, I bought my first apartment(earlier used to live on rentals).

What Cheating on Your Spouse Says About You

November 15, 2023

Cheating. It’s a dirty word, a destructive action, and a clear reflection of the person who chooses to partake in it. When you cheat on your spouse, it says a lot about you – and none of it is good.

First, let’s address the elephant in the room: your lack of integrity. Cheating is a blatant betrayal, a disregard for the vows and promises you made. It’s a cowardly escape from facing the issues in your relationship. Instead of communicating, working on issues, or even ending the relationship respectfully, you chose deception. This lack of integrity doesn’t just stay confined to your relationship; it seeps into every area of your life. How can anyone trust you if your word means so little?
