How Do Technicians Determine The Cause Of A Fire?

June 24, 2021

I was a fire investigator for 6 years. We go about finding what started a fire by A) looking at burn patterns and B) interviewing the people that were there if possible.

If the whole house has not burned down, I look for the that has the most burn damage.

In a urban area where the fire department is pretty responsive, you may only get smoke damage in most of the house.

This rules out the rest of the house from starting the fire. Let’s say the most burnt area is near the kitchen. You start asking yourself what can start a fire in that area.

What Is The Difference Between Bodybuilding and Powerlifting?

Bodybuilding

We’ve all seen crazy pictures of Arnold Schwarzenegger or Ronnie Colman competing for Mr. Olympia — one of the highest level of bodybuilding competition — but how did they get up to that point? Bodybuilding is a round-the-clock commitment where athletes use cardio and strength exercises in tandem with an emphasis on bulking and cutting: putting on as much muscle mass as possible, and eliminating as much fat as possible from the body in order to get the muscle definition. The goal is to develop a perfect form which meets judges’ criteria.

Why Is China So Hellbent On Erasing The Tiananmen Square Massacre From History?

June 8, 2021

Everyone (at least in the West) seems to know about tank man, but there’s another story that’s not as widely known. It shines a whole new light on this and explains why the Chinese government is so heavy handed when it comes to this subject. It was more than just another autocratic crackdown on protestors, which while terrible are par for the course.

Plastic In The Microwave, Is There Really Any Danger To It?

May 17, 2021

plastic in microwave

The majority of plastics can withstand microwave radiation and won’t break down nor melt. If you are buying commercial products, you might be able to find “microwave safe” symbols on them, which I think look like three squigly lines. Essentially, if you’re buying plastics that look like they were designed for storing food, then they are microwave safe.

Generally, for a plastic to be safe in a microwave it can’t react with the food, leach out components in the food, or decompose. A lot of storage containers such as plastic butter containers, sour cream containers, etc., can either melt or decompose. This also includes water bottles- don’t reheat water bottles if you want to be safe. Also, plastic bags from the grocery store should not be placed in the microwave.

What’s The Deal With Fighting in Hockey?

May 7, 2021

In hockey, fighting isn’t seen as a way to injure someone, like it would be in “real life”. There is a code of sportsmanship in hockey that goes beyond the rules of the game.

When that code is broken, players will square off against the offender in defense of themselves or a teammate.

How Do You Correctly Use An Equalizer

How Do You Correctly Use An Equalizer

Here’s what those levels are adjusting:

16Hz – 60Hz = SUB BASS This is the super low-end that can be felt physically by your body on a good subwoofer/sub-bass system. Sounds with these frequencies are the most powerful ones, and they will take up a lot of room in the mix. Use this range to fatten up your kick drums or sub-bass patches. Too much volume in this range makes your mix sound «muddy.»

Who Was Martin Luther? What Were His Main Contributions?

April 8, 2021

who is martin luther

Martin Luther was a German monk and priest. He was a devout Christian. In 1507, he was ordained as a priest and in 1508 he began to teach theology.

During his lifetime, the Western Church was raising money to rebuild St. Peter’s Basilica in Rome. That in itself was a pretty well thought out plan. However, the methods by which they collected money were intolerable to Martin Luther.

What Is So Great About Mister Rogers?

April 2, 2021

mister rogers

I grew up poor raised by strict immigrant parents who never hesitated popping me in the mouth for what they considered a “look.” I also never received much affection from my parents (I was 22 when my dad first told me he loved me). My earliest memories of receiving affection was this nice old white man on television telling me I was special. There was this man I had never met, telling me he loved me and that I was special just the way I was.

Every morning for half an hour, I was the king of the world who could do anything. A half hour, then it was back to getting yelled at and feeling like a worthless piece of shit.
