In today’s fast-paced world, it’s easy to get caught up reacting to events and situations around us rather than taking charge of our lives in a proactive way. Being proactive simply means taking conscious control and initiative to make things happen rather than just letting things happen to you. It’s about shaping your life intentionally rather than just responding to whatever comes your way.

Can you describe what the pain feels like?
Firstly, it is one-sided. > 95% of the time for me it is left hand side. Imagine a clamp around your head tightening, but at the same time there is a sharp hot object behind your left eye trying to drill an exit hole through your eye. The clamp continues to tighten – and every time that you bargain with the universe that “OK, thats my limit, stop now pleas” it tightens a little more. You vomit, loss of balance, and sometimes get quite scared for no real reason. You know what is going on (most of the time) but you have a deep feeling of fear. I also taste stone at the top of my head (how weird).

In 1911, an unlikely baseball team took the field at the Wyoming State Penitentiary – a team comprised entirely of inmates sentenced to death for violent crimes. Led by star player and convicted murderer Joseph Seng, the prison’s baseball team quickly became a fleeting sensation.
The “Death Row All Stars,” as they were known, were thrust into competition by the warden, Felix Alston, as part of his new reform initiatives. Their opponent in all four games was a strong local team, the Wyoming Supply Company Juniors. Against all odds, the All Stars dominated, winning each game decisively.
I’ve found myself falling into the infatuation trap before. It’s really easy to confuse it with genuine love. But for me anyway, infatuation is a lot more like a drug.
It’s a feeling that consumes you with temporary euphoric highs, and deep, dark lows. It’s almost like a panicked state of obsession. It fills your brain so all you can think about is that person. You start to care less about what really matters in your own life…your goals, your friends, your work. All that matters when you’re infatuated, is them. And you feel a strong, leeching desire to mold yourself into the person you think they’d want you to be.

The quote “be the same person publicly, privately and personally” offers wisdom for living an authentic life. In a world where we often wear different masks in different settings, this quote challenges us to bring alignment across the facets of our lives.
What does it mean to “be the same person” in all contexts? It means expressing your true self – your values, passions, and personality – whether you’re in a professional meeting, at home with family, or out with friends. It means not pretending to be someone you’re not to please others. It means standing firmly in your integrity, even when it’s hard.
Authentic living starts with self-awareness. We must understand our core values, goals, passions and personality traits on a deep level.
We can’t be swayed by others’ expectations. We must set our own standards for who we want to be and live by them.
Integrity is about being honest and having strong moral principles. Consistency in how we present ourselves in different areas of our lives is a testament to our integrity. It shows that our actions are aligned with our values, regardless of who’s watching.
When we’re consistent in our words, beliefs and actions – when we’re authentically ourselves in all settings – we build trust and respect. We show people they can count on us. We lead lives of purpose, meaning and satisfaction.
So be brave. Be you. In your work, your home and your community, strive to express your truest self. Don’t conform to gain others’ approval. When you live authentically, you inspire others to do the same.
