Sketches used by the Soviet police to identify suspects based on ethnicity, 1960s

This card was used by police in the Soviet Union to identify different nationalities by facial phenotypes. Originally it was developed by a group of Soviet criminologists based on various mugshot collections. The exact date is unknown, however, based on few Soviet sources, these typical faces sketches were made in 1960-1965. In the nomenclature of the USSR people weren’t classified based on their race or ethnicity.

Galvanize yourself into taking positive action.

Your conscious/intuition/better judgement, whatever you want to call it, generally knows what’s best for you and what it takes to get there, but is often overpowered by the pessimist in us. Here are two techniques you can use to confront that pessimistic voice;

1. Retroactive self-reflection. Here’s a confronting visualisation activity to motivate you into taking action; When faced with a daunting decision or challenge (one that you want to take but are hampered by your negative thoughts or anxiety), quickly visualize yourself as an old man or woman – Zimmer frame, toothless, baby food, incontinent, lonely, family only drop in once a month if you’re lucky – and you’re propped in front of the TV…but you’re not watching daytime talk shows or lawn bowl championships, rather you’re viewing a montage of all the opportunities you’ve passed up in your younger life, and you’re writhing with regret because you’ll never know what could have been.

Logitech G29 racing wheel

The is one of the best starter sim racing wheel. Has 900° of rotation which can be tune with the Logitech hub on pc. It has a feature where it "vibrates" when you hit drive on the curbs on a track course or off road. The material is nice on the hand. The shift paddles are really nice and have a "clicky" feeling to them. Buttons are ina good position. The added "+ and -" are nice for switching menus in a race and the dial for tuning either the brake bias or fuel mixture. Can clamp to most desks. You just need about and inch to inch and a half of flat surface under the desk for the clamp to get on it

(photo: @jmason)

A man’s mind may be likened to a garden, which may be intelligently cultivated or allowed to run wild; but whether cultivated or neglected, it must, and will, bring forth. If no useful seeds are put into it, then an abundance of useless weed seeds will fall therein, and will continue to produce their kind.
