Top 10 Board Games You Should Own

December 29, 2020

1. Codenames

Every single person I’ve introduced this game to has had a blast, even if they don’t play board games. It’s a fantastic game for parties or small groups. It’s a clever word game where you have to give one-word clues to link your target words for your team, while avoiding accidentally giving a clue that suggests your opponent’s words. It plays best with at least 4 but you can go as high as you want because teams don’t get any advantage from player count. Very easy to learn, quick to play, creative, affordable, portable… just all around great game.

“This photo was sent to me by one of our in-house engineers.”

“We are doing a seismic retrofit on this apartment building. This is, quite literally, what we discovered. There was nothing supporting the unit above. No connections or even anything touching the ground besides the stucco facade. Thank goodness we had shoring put in place

chief hatuey

(photo: "Hatuey monument” by Michal Zalewski)

Before being burned alive by the Spaniards, Chief Hatuey was asked if he wanted to accept Christianity and go to heaven. Hatuey asked if Spaniards go to heaven, to which the priest said that they do. Hatuey then stated that he’d rather go to hell where he wouldn’t see such cruel people.

Here is the God [pointing to a basket of gold and jewels] the Spaniards worship. For these they fight and kill; for these they persecute us and that is why we have to throw them into the sea… They tell us, these tyrants, that they adore a God of peace and equality, and yet they usurp our land and make us their slaves. They speak to us of an immortal soul and of their eternal rewards and punishments, and yet they rob our belongings, seduce our women, violate our daughters. Incapable of matching us in valor, these cowards cover themselves with iron that our weapons cannot break…

how to get matches on dating apps

For all of the guys struggling with getting matches on dating apps

I been getting consistent matches and a decent amount of girls even like my profile first.

My demographic: 28, large city, asian american (least swiped on race statistically so if I can do it you guys can too), appearance wise I am the fit nerdy type.

The fact is most girls as in over 90% are looking for a relationship rather than a casual hookup. If you’re competing on the hookup game chances are you will not succeed. I got off any apps with hookup stigma like Tinder. I went for CoffeeMeetsBagel and Hinge instead.

A “Kaiten”, Japanese suicide torpedo. A soldier would enter and direct the weapon to its target, sacrificing his life.

Kaiten (回天, literal translation: “Turn the Heaven”, commonly rendered as “turn of the Heaven’s will”, “the heaven shaker”) were manned torpedoes and suicide craft, used by the Imperial Japanese Navy in the final stages of World War II.

Kaiten pilots were all men aged between 17 and 28. Initial training consisted of sailing fast surface boats by periscope and instrument readings alone.

Throwback: Church Mistakes Tupac Shakur’s ‘Hail Mary’ For Catholic Prayer

December 24, 2020

2pac catholic prayer

There was mass confusion at a Christmas service in Sri Lanka when the program featured the words to Tupac Shakur’s 1997 song, “Hail Mary,” instead of the traditional Catholic prayer, according to multiple reports.

The service took place on December 11 in Colombo, but pictures of the program went viral during the Christmas holiday.

Both the “Hail Mary” prayer and Tupac Shakur’s rap song ask Mother Mary to intercede on behalf of sinners, but they differ greatly on the specifics.
