19 Fascinating Movie Details You Probably Didn’t Notice Before

February 17, 2023

In Titanic, there is a scene showing a boy playing with a spinning top on deck. This is actually a recreation of a real photo taken onboard the ship on April 11th, 1912 by Francis Browne. It shows 1st Class passenger Frederic Spedden and his 6 year old son Douglas. Both survived the sinking.

How did the camera survive?

Titanic had two stops on her voyage, one in Cherbourg, France and the other in Queenstown (now called Cobh), Ireland. Francis Browne, the photographer, left the ship in Queenstown and didn’t continue the voyage to New York.

Confessions of a Former Incel

February 16, 2023

How did it start?

I became really active in those communities starting about 2015-2016, when I was a 16 year-old kid, and it all started with a couple of those “feminist owned” compilations that were plastered everywhere at the time.

At the time I was dealing with a lot of problems for a kid my age, and a lot of things that contributed to me being a target for these groups. I had an alcoholic mother who would pass out during the day and leave me to look after 2 kids, I dealt with SA as a child that gave me weird views about sex and relationships, and I had undiagnosed ASD & ADHD which made it hard to keep friends, do well at school, and have any sort of positive opinion of myself.

What is Seppuku?

February 16, 2023

It was fundamentally an “honorable” way to commit suicide when you would otherwise be killed, not some random act done based on minor embarrassment.

Samurai would do it rather than be captured by a hostile force or after being convicted of very serious crimes. Sometimes it would be a requirement for a peace treaty and basically replaced killing the leader of the losing faction.
