You’re Not Ugly. You Just Look Like You

June 13, 2023

camera shy

I photograph a lot of people. Almost everyone believes they are ugly. Your grandmother. Your child. Your best friend. Most models. Most actors. Maybe even you.

“Oh, don’t take my photo, I’ll break your camera!” laughs the 80-year-old grandfather. When he dies a few months later, his grandkids will treasure this reminder of his “ugly mug.”

“Please delete this,” says a dear old friend. She looks beautiful. She looks like herself. She’s been captured in a moment in which she is utterly comfortable in her skin. And she hates it.

Confessions of a Gay Man Who Married A Straight Woman

June 12, 2023

gay man married to woman

Why?

She was my best friend and I wanted to spend the rest of my life with her, regardless of whether I was sexually attracted to her. She’s the best human being I know.

We wanted to live together, we wanted to have kids together, we wanted to wake up next to each other every morning, and we wanted to grow old together. We wanted an exclusive relationship with each other even if sexual attraction was not a driving force in that relationship. I’m not saying that marriage is necessarily the right solution for anyone. For us, it’s just what made the most sense.

Confession of the Day

June 12, 2023

My wife came out. She saw it fitting with it being June and all. Her dad recently passed. He was infamously homophobic, so much so he disowned my wife’s brother for being gay.

We have been together for 24 years. We started dating at 20 and married at 25. We’re now 44 an 43. We had a family. 3 children from 16 to 10. They’re lives are about to be torn apart thanks to a divorce.

You see mom/son/friend, you need to have self custody. You’re your own bank. Cold wallet and hot wallet. Seeds in three copies, none of them on the computer or your phone. Two locations is a must.

But first you need to buy the crypto you want on a CeX. Preferably a reputable one which you think is safe. Which one is that? Right now, none of them seems like it. But I digress.

You need to do the KYC procedure in order to do business on a CeX. Yes, that does take a week or so. Yes, they can not accept your KYC. Yes, they can ask for your Internet invoice for the last 3 months.

Picture of the Day

June 12, 2023

frank cullotta

The hitman at the end of Casino is played by Frank Cullotta, a real-life mobster whose career in the Chicago/Las Vegas mob gave inspiration to the film.

Frank Culotta, though not a Las Vegan, was a technical consultant on the film, since he knew Tony Spilotro since they were children and was the Ant’s right-hand man in Vegas.

In the scene where the hitman is chasing the target through his Las Vegas house, the actor playing the shooter just couldn’t get it right. Scorcese said to Frank, “Show him how you did it.” (Yes, Cullotta himself had assassinated Jerry Lisner, who’d provided information to the police about crimes that Cullotta and Spilotro had committed.)

Frank acted it out so realistically that Scorcese put him in the movie to film that scene.
