It’s a Christian religion (technically), however, they do not follow the nicene creed, meaning they do not believe in the trinity, whereas most other major Christian religions do. They also have a lot of doctrines that make them stand out from other churches for example:
Because the church as a whole encourages young marriage for a few reasons, some spiritual and some practical. I’m speaking from the perspective of someone who was raised in a very traditional Pentecostal church. A lot of what I say can translate to other denominations also but they may not be as strict as what I grew up on.
1. COURTSHIP “POLICY”: The longer you date or court someone is the more likely that you will engage in sexual activity before marriage…a sin known as FORNICATION!! It’s very normal for a couple to literally date for only 6 months and the pastor will give them the green light to get married. That seems unheard of but it’s VERY common in the traditional church! Long courtships are STRONGLY discouraged!
According to Christian belief, Jesus Christ saved humanity from sin by taking on the punishment for our sins through his death on the cross and subsequent resurrection.
In Christian theology, humanity’s disobedience to God, known as “sin,” created a separation between God and humans. This separation made it impossible for people to attain eternal life with God. However, Jesus’ sacrifice on the cross served as a substitute for the punishment that humans deserved for their sins.
By accepting Jesus’ sacrifice, Christians believe that they are forgiven for their sins and are reconciled with God. In this way, Jesus’ death and resurrection serve as the means of salvation for believers, allowing them to have eternal life with God.
The concept of Jesus saving humanity from sin is a central tenet of Christian belief and is often referred to as the “atonement.”
Dali said that his inspiration for The Ascension of Christ came from a “cosmic dream’ that he had in 1950, some eight years before the painting was completed. In the dream, which was in vivid color, he saw the nucleus of an atom, which we see in the background of the painting; Dali later realized that this nucleus was the true representation of the unifying spirit of Christ.
The feet of Christ points out at the viewer, drawing the eye inwards along his body to the center of the atom behind him. The atom has the same interior structure as the head of a sunflower. As with most of Dali’s other paintings of Christ, his face is not visible. Above the Christ is Gala, her eyes wet with tears.
Martin Luther was a German monk and priest. He was a devout Christian. In 1507, he was ordained as a priest and in 1508 he began to teach theology.
During his lifetime, the Western Church was raising money to rebuild St. Peter’s Basilica in Rome. That in itself was a pretty well thought out plan. However, the methods by which they collected money were intolerable to Martin Luther.
