1. Shot in the arm when I was young when I got caught in the middle of a drive by shooting.

You know in the movies where a gun goes off and there’s a sudden look of shock on the victim’s face before he looks at the wound? That’s very accurate. I did not feel any pain or anything. I heard the gunshot and felt a tight pressure in my arm. I looked and saw the wound and how much blood I was losing, and the next thing I know I’m in the hospital.”

How Hard Is It To Own A Gun In Japan?

how to buy a gun in japan

Almost no one in Japan owns a gun. Most kinds are illegal, with onerous restrictions on buying and maintaining the few that are allowed. Even the country’s infamous, mafia-like Yakuza tend to forgo guns; the few exceptions tend to become big national news stories.

Handguns are forbidden absolutely. Small-caliber rifles have been illegal to buy, sell, or transfer since 1971. Anyone who owned a rifle before then is allowed to keep it, but their heirs are required to turn it over to the police once the owner dies.

The only guns that Japanese citizens can legally buy and use are shotguns and air rifles, and it’s not easy to do.

An “Apache revolver” used by early 1900s French gangsters, the weapon worked as a gun, knife and brass knuckles all at the same time.

These knuckle duster revolvers were sold by Frenchman Louis Dolne in the late 1860s and combine a pinfire pepperbox style revolver with folding brass knuckles for a grip and a 3 1/2 inch kris style folding dagger.

There is no barrel or sights, so range is very limited. The brass knuckles and blade also clearly indicate there were designed to be used at extremely close range, ostensibly for self-defense.

With the blade and knuckles folded down, the revolver could easily be concealed in a coat pocket. The Apache nickname originates from a group of well-known members of the French criminal sub-culture in the early 20th century said to prefer these revolvers as well as garrotting and general brute force when mugging their victims.

.950 JDJ – Largest Center-Fire Rifle Ever Made. This gun is larger than a .50 cal and larger than the famed T-Rex

The round is .95 inches in diameter, and weighs a staggering 3600 grains (8 ounces, half a pound).

The rifle is a single-shot bolt action rifle, weighing about 110 pounds, 18 of which is the muzzle brake.

The bullet has a muzzle velocity of 2,200 feet per second, and generates 38,685 lbs/ft of energy. It also generates a recoil impulse of 200 lbs/ft, or about 13 times the recoil energy of a .308 Winchester. This recoil is FAR beyond the capability of most humans to tolerate, and can in fact cause severe or even fatal injuries. To compensate for this, the rifles are typically fired from a lead sled type shooting rest. The rifle costs about $17,000 by itself, and each round costs nearly $80.
