In 1995 an Australian doctor created the ‘Deliverance Machine’: a euthanasia device which utilised a software called ‘Deliverance’ – patients were posed three questions via a notebook computer, if they answered yes to all three, the machine administered a lethal dose of barbiturates

The “Deliverance Machine”, invented by Philip Nitschke was a euthanasia device which consisted of a notebook computer and software titled “Deliverance”, which asks the patient a series of questions, and automatically administers a lethal injection of barbiturates if the correct answers are made.

Imagine being at the amusement park, climbing on a roller coaster and… dying. However, it was not an accident, but a form of euthanasia. This comes from the mind of a Lithuanian designer, in 2010, who presented a project called “Euthanasia Coaster”. It is precisely a roller coaster, designed with the aim of giving death, humanly and with “fun”, to those who get on board.

What Is Doctor Assisted Death Like?

An immediate family member last year was diagnosed with bronchiolitis obliterans (popcorn lungs) with an unknown cause to it. It is something that is not curable. As someone who was a daily part of my life it was hard to watch the condition progress.

His condition progressively got worse and he was transferred to a palativcare physicality a couple of weeks ago. He wasn’t happy living the way he was living and slowly dying. The doctors discussed with him the option of assisted death… something he did not know about, and myself I thought was still not finalized in Canada yet, so it was a surprise to hear this.

What’s It Like To Have To Put Your Dog Down

The single hardest thing I have done in my life at the age of 31 was put down my dog, Angel, who had heart disease. I remember getting the call from my mom while I was at work and using the drive over the to vet to get all my crying out. This was my pup growing up and was the sweetest dog I’ve ever owned. Not a mean bone in her body and would absolutely light up the moment she saw me. Every time.

I remember pulling up to the vet and thinking I had everything under control but the moment I went into the room where she was laying on the table I lost it. Here is my pup breathing what seemed like slow determined breaths, dealing with pain in a foreign room without family around. My Mom walks in first and Angel immediately recognizes her and you can sense the relief.
