In a small town in County Cork, Ireland, a monument stands in appreciation to the Choctaw Indian Tribe. Although impoverished, shortly after being forced to walk the Trail of Tears, the tribe gathered $170 to send to Ireland for famine relief in 1847.
On March 23, 1847, the Indians of the Choctaw nation took up a collection. Moved by news of starvation in Ireland, a group of Choctaws gathered in Scullyville, Okla., to raise a relief fund. Despite their meager resources, they collected $170 ($5,362.84 in todays money) and forwarded it to a famine relief organization. For context, in 1870 men in Ireland were making about $7 per week (women $40 per year)

The programming: Keep your phone by your bedside. Wake up, check your inbox and Twitter and Instagram before you get up. (Associate your smartphone with safety and warmth). Look at a screen until the moment you pass out. Wake up and do it again.
The counter-programming: It is critical to have a morning and evening routine that omit screen time. The first and last hours of your day should be low activity and screen-free. Honor your body’s natural wake/sleep cycles. I can’t overemphasize how critical this is.

1. Fake Job Check Scam
So my wife has been looking for part time work from home jobs to supplement my income. She found a virtual assistant position and applied.
The company offered her a position without interviewing her. It’s for 6-7 hours a week making hotel and travel reservations. She will be paid $400 a week, and $30 extra per hour over 7 hours as needed.
She asked some questions and got an odd response that felt canned. Basically she said she would receive a check for $2950 that would cover the first week’s pay, the cost of a printer and paper, as well as booking software.

Testing the MMU for the first time in space required a lot of focus and bravery, but McCandless and Stewart had faith in the hardware. Weighing 300 lbs. /136 kg, the MMU was powered by 24 small compressed nitrogen thrusters with two motion-controlled handles on either armrest for simple maneuvering. It was developed by engineer Charles Whitsett, and McCandless tested the MMU underwater and inside the Skylab space station prior to his famous spacewalk.
