A Death Row Inmate’s Thoughts, Days Before His Execution

Not many people have seen a real death warrant in person, let alone been issued one with their name on it.

I remember the warden instructing security to escort us in restraints from our cells, one at a time, to a small office where we were surrounded by prison officials. The warden read aloud the information off the warrants, which included our names, our crimes, and the jury’s verdict.

There was silence. My mind remained unaffected, having undergone this very thing before only to later receive a stay of execution. There was a measure of calm, knowing I wasn’t alone, that there were seven others—though, given the love I have for the other guys, I would rather have done it alone.

Broken Crayons: These Drawings Were Created By Children Who Were Being Abused

You’re looking at a drawing by an eight-year-old girl. That’s her on the left. The smiling boy is her older brother, and the animal is how she drew her mommy. Nobody knew it at the time, but they were both abusing her. When the doctors found out, they looked back at this picture. That’s when they realized the girl was floating, with no arms and no mouth. They say this means she felt helpless and voiceless, a major clue of abuse in drawings.

Bartenders Reveal What Your Drink Order Says About You

1. From my experience if you order a Bud Light/ Miller Light/ Budweiser with a shot of Bourbon or Whisky you probably work a manual labor intensive job. Most older women want vodka with water/tonic/soda. Younger woman tend to order vodka with cranberry or sweeter mixed drinks. Younger men tend to order IPA’s or Craft Beers. I can always tell who just turned 21 due to all the complex sweet shots with fancy names being ordered. Old ladies that want to party usually start with Margaritas. I bartend on the weekends at a shot and beer spot, so I don’t get a lot variety.

What’s It Like To Be Sober After A Lifetime of Drinking?

I’m 38 now. I started drinking in highschool. It became an every day affair by my early 20’s. I was only able to stop two years ago at 36.

It started out as useful and fun. I have panic attacks which alcohol seemed perfect for. It is indeed hard to have one when you’re 10 beers in. Plus I loved to drink. Drinking, smoking, a little pot, it was all fantastic. With the right combination I felt exactly how I wanted to feel, on top of the world.

1. If you see something on the menu and can’t find at least one or two other items that the ingredients could be used in, don’t order it.

For example, my restaurant has a pulled pork sandwich. We don’t use the pork for anything else. Since it’s not ordered too frequently, it’s not fresh and the product you’re eating might be days or weeks old. It’s not going to get you sick, but it definitely won’t be as fresh as the other things on the menu.
