The Daily Man-Up: Practice Choosing Discomfort

July 13, 2023

(photo: @anniespratt)

Practice choosing discomfort.

Our choice is between doing an uncomfortable thing now or having greater discomfort thrust upon us later. Because we procrastinators suck at choosing the lesser discomfort now, we effectively are choosing greater discomfort at times that are out of our control.

Making that choice is a skill. It has to be practiced to be developed. You can’t just start doing it easily today just like you can’t just start doing anything that requires skill.

Success Doesn’t Require Speed…It Requests Slowness

July 12, 2023

(photo: @derstudi)

So many people today are in a rush to become successful.

They want to earn 7-figures in 12 months even though they have no marketable skills, no network, and no businesses acumen.

They want to build their dream body in 12 weeks even though they haven’t set foot in a gym in years and don’t really understand the current state of their physical body.

Comparison Is The Thief Of Joy

Comparison Is The Thief Of Joy

We live in a world where we are constantly comparing ourselves to others. This causes us stress, anxiety, and conditions of worth. As someone who used to often fall victim to the toxic comparison culture of today’s world, it took me a long time to overcome this flaw and to develop a healthier approach. Here are some things that have helped me when it comes to comparing myself with others:

How To Stop Eating Out And Save Money

July 10, 2023

how to stop eating out

Holy shit at the money people spend on food!

And I was the exact same way when I landed my first job out of college. You know what I’m talking about–biscuit and Starbucks on the way to work, lunch out with coworkers and pizza and beer at the local tavern for dinner! Every night! All week! Professional money spender! And more beers and dinners on the weekends! Woohoo!

Wait. Where did all my money go? And how the hell did I gain 40 pounds in six months? If you’re nodding your head you’ve fallen into the brand-new-job-big-salary-eat-out-because-I-can trap. And you have to stop it. It’s killing your bank account, it’s killing your financial freedom and it’s killing you. (Literally–I was on the edge of type 2 diabetes and had hyperglycemia during routine physicals.)

27 Unwritten Rules Every Man Should Live By

July 7, 2023

(photo: @heftiba)

1. Never try to steal your friend’s girl. If you try to steal your friend’s girl you are the true scum of the Earth.

2. Never date/bang your friends’ exes, even if they say it’s okay.

3. If your friend cheats on his woman, you take that shit to your grave.

Complaining Has Zero Positive Impact On Your Life

July 6, 2023

(photo: @arnelhasanovic)

Life isn’t fair.

Get the fuck over it.

Complaining has zero positive impact on your life.

You waste valuable time, you put yourself in a negative state of mind, make yourself really unattractive, and repel people like magnets because frankly…

No one else cares, nobody wants to hear about it.

Not your best friends. Not your mom. Not your girlfriend. No one.

The Power of Honoring Your Commitments

July 5, 2023

(photo: @rawpixel)

Have you ever found yourself constantly pushing tasks aside, promising to do them later, only to never actually get around to them? If you’re like many people, this habit of delaying commitments, even unintentionally, comes at a surprisingly high cost.

Think about it. How many times have you told someone you’ll call them later, only to never follow through? How often do you add items to your to-do list but fail to complete them? Have you ever committed to helping someone, only to let them down?

She Is Rooting For You

June 30, 2023

(photo: @jordanbauer)

Men who have the perception of women as these ego-centric creatures who laugh at us from their sexual mountain-tops, doling out which man gets (a chance at) the divine pussy access and which man gets to squander away his time in solitude — it doesn’t work like that.

Think about it. Why do women spend so much time and effort on their appearance?

Why do they go to singles’ bars and join dating sites and give blind dates a try?

They don’t do it so that they can revel in rejecting a bunch of guys.

They’re just as lonely and frustrated as we are.

They want to meet a man. But not just any man, a great man — a man who is confident, charming, fun, and interesting.

Why You Should Meditate

June 29, 2023

meditation

Between stimulus and response there is a space. In that space is our power to choose our response. In our response lies our growth and our freedom – Viktor E. Frankl

Meditation is a great way to make that “space” bigger, as are several kinds of self reflection. Watching yourself in the moment, seeing where your thoughts take you without judgement, helps you to understand your own mind. It isn’t easy, and it takes time to develop this awareness of your own response, but over time your ability to change your response (in this case steer away from certain thoughts and toward better ones) does get better.

“I Wish I Hadn’t Live Life as If It Would Last Forever “

June 28, 2023

living in the past

We have it all backward. We spend our work hours helping someone else build their dream, and spend our free time watching TV and surfing the internet. We think we enjoy these things – but this is a lie.

The truth is that these mindless things distract us from achieving the things we really want to achieve in life. They make us forget that time is the most precious and irreplaceable commodity in the world.

When your final countdown begins, you cannot buy more time. Not even if you’re a billionaire (Steve Jobs died at 56!) The time you’ve spent is all there is.

What’s scary? You don’t know when that final countdown will come. It may be fifty years from now, or ten years – or tomorrow. You’ll never know…
