5 People Reveal What’s It Like To Live In Finland, The Happiest Country In The World

December 6, 2023

whats it like to live in finland

1. In Finland, things just simply work, promises are kept, life can be planned ahead and people keep their distance. It’s perfect. The darkness before the snow comes is pretty depressing, but it’s the cost of not having that many people around, and I’m willing to pay.

Confessions of a Woman With a Photographic Memory

December 4, 2023

photographic memory interview

Is studying super easy for you?

Studying? What is that?

How easy is it for you to take tests?

Absurdly easy. It’s actually pretty great, I never have to study. People at my university get a little pissed off sometimes by that.

What’s It Like To Have Cluster Headaches

November 14, 2023

whats it like to have cluster headaches

Can you describe what the pain feels like?

Firstly, it is one-sided. > 95% of the time for me it is left hand side. Imagine a clamp around your head tightening, but at the same time there is a sharp hot object behind your left eye trying to drill an exit hole through your eye. The clamp continues to tighten – and every time that you bargain with the universe that “OK, thats my limit, stop now pleas” it tightens a little more. You vomit, loss of balance, and sometimes get quite scared for no real reason. You know what is going on (most of the time) but you have a deep feeling of fear. I also taste stone at the top of my head (how weird).

Confessions of a Former Portland Resident

November 13, 2023

After 18 years of living in Portland, I’m no longer a resident. It’s a damned shame what happened to the city, but I couldn’t justify living there anymore.

When I first moved out there, I was in my 20s and the entire city seemed like a dream come true. Beautiful trees and architecture, great bookstores, breweries and coffeehouses, reasonably priced rent. For a city where no one would call themselves a capitalist, everyone seemed to have a side hustle of some sort; everyone I met and knew was working on their own line of kombucha or had an art studio, scrappy businesses like Pok Pok and Ruby Jewel were just starting up, food carts were popping up with dreams of brick and mortar locations. The job market was crap, but the other benefits more than made up for it.

7 First Hand Accounts Of What Human Taste Like

November 10, 2023

what does human taste like

If you were wondering what human meat taste like, wonder no longer! I compiled a list of testimonies from cannibals, psychos and degenerates to help you better understand the flavor profiles of human flesh.

1. Back in the 1920s, one man set out to provide a detailed record of the societies that devour human flesh – and went so far as to taste it himself. American adventurer William Buehler Seabrook wrote of his experiences in his book Jungle Ways, published in 1931:

Confessions of a Man Who Suffered From Locked-In Syndrome

November 7, 2023

How did you get locked-in?

I was diagnosed with a terminal progressive disease May 24, 2017 called toxic acute progressive leukoenpholopathy. I declined rapidly over the next few months and by the fifth month I began suffering from locked-in syndrome. Two months after that I was sent on home hospice to die. I timed out of hospice and I broke out of locked in syndrome around July 4, 2018. I was communicating nonverbally and living in rehabilitation hospitals, relearning to speak, move, eat, and everything. I finally moved out of long-term care back to my new home December 1, 2020.

3 Women Describe What’s It Like To Be Ugly In A Superficial World

October 31, 2023

whats it like to be an ugly woman

1. Every morning when I wake up, I want to go back to sleep. Not because I’m tired, but because I can’t face the world like this. I dress myself up as best as I can manage, and I do my hair by physical memory. I avoid the mirror.

Whenever I look in the mirror, I want to throw up. I want to rip my eyes out and never see again. I wish I could go to the store and return the parts of my face. Tell them: “This wasn’t what I ordered. I need a refund”. Get a replacement and finally love myself.

What’s It Like To Be Pulled Back From The Brink of Death

October 26, 2023

whats it like to almost die

I don’t know what death feels like, but I do know what dying feels like.

A year and a half ago, I was shot point blank in the chest with a 9mm. I didn’t feel it, but the bullet severed my subclavian artery. I was losing blood quickly and I collapsed. And let me tell you, to lie there and bleed out would have been the easiest thing I’ve ever done. Instead I did the hardest thing I’ve ever done; I crawled out of the house and into the street, where a neighbor saw me and called an ambulance.

Confessions of a Man Who Won a $325 Million Powerball Jackpot

October 17, 2023

powerball jackpot winner

How did you first react?

I found out at 3 in the morning. I was putting away some laundry and tidying my room before crashing. The ticket was on my dresser so I gave it a quick check assuming it would be a bust so I could throw it in the waste paper basket.

When the numbers matched I sort of swooned and got dizzy. I kept double checking and stayed up to go to the lottery office when it opened. Some of the longest hours of my life. I was very red and warm, I kept fanning myself for a few days.
