What’s It Like To Chew On Coca Leaves?

December 10, 2021

So I’ve been to Peru many times, beautiful country, and each time I’ve used coca leaf, which is abundant, cheap, and used often here, but mostly in the form of tea, although I did put it in my mouth to “chew” it before but without the base needed to extract the alkaloids (one being cocaine, in tiny amounts).

Anyhow this time I did use both lime (comes with the bag of coca if you ask) and sodium bicarbonate to activate the alkaloids whilst holding the leafs in your mouth. I’ll outline my experiences below:

Confessions From The Hikikomori Community

December 8, 2021

hikikomori

A hikikomori as a condition in which the affected individuals refuse to leave their parents’ house, do not work or go to school and isolate themselves away from society and family in a single room for a period exceeding six months.

1. I can’t even express how much loneliness and hopelessness I’ve felt in these 6 or so years of being out of school.

I’ve never had a job or did anything spectacular in my life. I have so much anxiety day to day that I can’t even look at my family members in the eyes normally or have a normal conversation with them.

The Thoughts And Feelings Of A Police Officer Who Just Shot Someone To Death

November 30, 2021

I was involved in my first on duty shooting incident. And I killed someone. It is considered a justified shooting, but never the less its been keeping me up at night. And I thought maybe sharing it will help me process what happened.

I was watching a red light that’s known to produce some speeders and considered a dangerous intersection.

When I witnessed a car run the red light at a high rate of speed. I began pursuit, thinking it was a normal traffic stop. The car pulled over shortly after I began the pursuit.

9 People Reveal Their Frustrations Of Being Raised By Overbearing Asian Parents

November 23, 2021

1. I visited a family friend with my parents, and while we were on our way back, my dad said he was discussing with the other parents about how me and their child, and most Asian children in this generation aren’t decisive/willing to take risks at all. I literally exploded.

Like why the fuck do you think we are this way?

Don’t you think maybe if you guys weren’t so fucking stingy with compliments and over critical with every single little mistake we made growing up then we would be a bit more confident and not deathly afraid of making mistakes???

Confessions Of An American Indian

November 22, 2021

What tribe are you from?

I grew up and lived on the Oneida Nation rez in Wisconsin. I am part of the Turtle Clan (or Wolf, if you want to be pedantic)

Why do some people call your clan the Turtle Clan if it’s really the Wolf Clan?

Oneida is a Matriarchy and my ancestry is through my father which would put me in wolf clan. My Grandma is Turtle though, so i choose to go off of that.

Is your Oneida Nation related to the Oneida Nation in NY?

Same ones. We were moved forcefully from there

Confessions of the Deputy Warden Of The World’s Most Humane Prison

November 19, 2021

halden prison deputy

How did a program like this come about, was it at first controversial or was it always accepted as a good idea?

Building the facility was a decision made by the parliament in Norway. The way is was built, was to reflect some of the central principles of the Norwegian correctional services; Humanity and Normality. Some said the first months that is was to “luxurious” – but that critique silenced after a while.

How many prisoners are in your prison?

Approx. 260. A big prison by Norwegian standard, very small by US standards…. We could argue for hours what is the “best” size, however my experience is that very large prisons is more about “logistics” than rehabilitation.

The Defeatist Confessions From The Forever Alone Community

November 17, 2021

forever alone

1. Sometimes I remember just how lonely I am, how deprived of physical or emotional intimacy I am, and it just leaves me with a cold, numb, empty feeling that radiates from my core to my extremities.

Sometimes I think back on a time, any time, that a girl smiled at me, or laughed at a joke, or any basic, every day, little social cue that she’s potentially a little interested, and I’m overcome with frustration bordering on rage because I couldn’t bring myself to do anything about it.

When that happens I might just sort of growl/moan to myself if I’m somewhere with other people around, but if I’m alone (especially in the car)I’ll scream at the top of my lungs, either a stream of profanities or just a wordless bellow.

7 Poignant Confessions That Will Take You Through A Rollercoaster of Emotions

November 16, 2021

1. My daughter died 5 years ago today and a part of me is glad about that

Makes me sound horrible. I know. I would never say this out loud to anyone ever.

Though I said daughter, she wasn’t technically my daughter. She was my sister’s child. My sister OD’ed when the baby was around a year old. I was 19 at that time and in college.

I got custody. I never wanted children. I wanted to be a doctor. I wanted to go a different path than the path my family took. But I felt responsible to take her in. So, I dropped out. Took care of her. Loved her. Life was hard but we got by. I was working any jobs I could get and I didn’t have any life. I didn’t have any friends. I didn’t have any time to date. I was either working or at home taking care of her. At times, I felt like I didn’t even have time to breathe.

What Was it Like To Be At The Front of the Crowd At The Astroworld Festival?

November 9, 2021

Today is November 5th, 2021. It is a Friday. Who I am in this story is not important, rather it is important the things I have now witnessed.

Astroworld, Houston, Texas. Travis Scott is the only one performing. I don’t know how many people were at the festival, but I do know that every single person was at that stage.

My friend and I wanted to be close to the stage — as close as we could possibly get. We were not able to get very close, but we did end up on the side, near the walkway in the middle. Surrounding us were chest-high metal gates. "Barriers."

We stood there for two hours, as did every other person. Every gap was filled, where your feet were placed was where they stayed.

Energy rose as the time neared -beginning the show. Within the first 30 seconds of the first song, people began to drown — in other people. There were so many people. Tall men, women. Women and men where the only thing they could see was the back of the person in front of them.
