How did it begin? How old were you when it started?
I was 15 when it started. He was 38. He’s 23 years older than me.
His classroom was directly across from my art class. I hated art class and usually skipped it. He is a special needs teacher and had a sensory swing in his room. He offered for me to hang out in it and I spent every single art class in his classroom instead.

Why are you off the grid? What is the point?
We wanted to live in Vermont, and fell in love with a piece of land without a house on it. We were completely new to building (we had only built a chicken coop prior to our house), and had a limited budget. We knew we didn’t want to take a mortgage to build, so we went with the most basic cabin we could reasonably build in a short time. We figured we would add features and utilities as money would allow. 5 years in, and we still are fine with not having running water, a constant supply of electricity.
This is a less stressful life for us: being in control, having awesome projects, doing whatever we want with what we have.
The stain never goes away. Never. You can’t drink it away, you can’t scrub it away, you can’t pretend it away, therapy and medication can only do so much. The stain is always there.

I semi-retired in my early 40s, meaning I can be more selective about the work I perform or not work at all. I can spend weeks working only 10 hours per week just keeping tabs on my investments, or I could work 40 to 50 hours per week as a consultant.
I have a net worth of $5M+, and it’s a lot of work just to maintain and grow it. I sometimes dream about cashing in my chips and living off of an annuity, dividends or rental income.
How did you get diagnosed and when did the tics start?
Diagnosed August last year. I’m 23 tics started when I was 19 probably, I lived with my parents when things were getting out of hand, and yes I got in trouble. My mother didn’t seem to believe it could possibly be TS, despite doing research, until I got diagnosed. She screamed at me plenty, and even cried cause she hates the word cunt so much. Honestly, I think she was doing her best, but its just tough to adjust too, for a parent of an adult.
1. My experience of being loved by a girl is that it is an amazing feeling that is hard to describe concisely. She has accepted me for who I am, deemed me worthy, and has decided to make me a significant part of her life. In order for that to work, I am also accepting her and deeming her worthy enough for me. She is the person I think of first whenever I hear a new joke. If I taste something amazing, I make sure that she gets some if it too, because I want her to experience it. My happiness is somewhat bound to her happiness. Seeing her smile makes me smile. When she is not feeling well I want to be there to take care of her. Much of love is bundled up in the act of returning the love.
