How Does The Witness Protection Program Work?

March 11, 2024

how does witness protection work?

You have different levels of witness protection, but I assume you are talking about the most advanced, which would be WITSEC run by the Department of Justice and the US Marshals service.

Before the person testifies, USMS would be responsible for protecting the person and in coordinating with the local police agencies, would be responsible for getting them to and from trial to testify.

How Good Are ‘Bad’ NBA Players?

March 8, 2024

EXTREMELY good. I mean, like, amazing.

At our local LA Fitness, we are the “home gym” for a few NBA players during the off-season. Amare Stoudamire came in a couple times, and Mike Bibby was a semi-regular.

But, let’s talk about this guy.

Negele Knight. Unless you lived in Phoenix during the Tom Chambers-Kevin Johnson-Dan Majerle era, you have no clue who I’m talking about, which makes sense, because, in NBA terms…he wasn’t that good. He bounced around the league a bit and was never anything more than a backup point guard who played about 8 minutes a game.

What Is The Cosmic Microwave Background?

March 5, 2024

cosmic microwave background

The CMB is a snapshot of the oldest light in the universe, imprinted on the sky when the universe was just a baby in cosmic terms.

It is essentially the afterglow radiation from the hot, dense state of the universe just 380,000 years after the Big Bang, a time known as the recombination era. At this point, the universe had cooled enough for protons and electrons to combine into neutral hydrogen atoms, allowing photons (light particles) to travel freely for the first time without being constantly scattered by charged particles.

My family is Thai Buddhist, and I was raised that way, so I can at least tell you about what it’s like for us.

The answer is, it depends. It depends on where you are, what kind of temple you’re at, if at all, and how far along you are in your, lets call it, career, as a monk.

Is Bo Jackson the Greatest Athlete To Ever Live Or Is He Overrated?

March 4, 2024

Before the hate mail comes in I’d first like to clarify that I greatly respect Bo Jackson and think he’s an incredible athlete. However, sometimes pure athleticism doesn’t directly translate on the field or in the stat sheet. I always enjoyed watching Jackson play and marveled at his strength and speed, but sometimes there’s more to becoming an all-around player at your sport.

Somewhere along the way Bo turned into a mythic hero, instead of simply a gifted athlete. ESPN went so far as to crown him with the Greatest Athlete of All Time award. Pretty surprising considering he only played 8 seasons in the MLB and 4 in the NFL.

What Is The Inmate Pecking Order in Prison?

February 23, 2024

innmate pecking order

Jail and prison populations involve people living in very close proximity to one another (in some housing situations, the toilet seat might be only a few inches from your face when you’re lying in bed), so it is natural to expect that a culture and social structure will emerge.

What Kind Of Protection Does The Presidential Limo Have?

February 23, 2024

The presidential state car – also called The Beast and Cadillac One – is the President’s go-to vehicle for safe traveling.

It has five-inch thick bulletproof glass and polycarbonate windows that don’t roll down, except the driver’s window which rolls down just a few inches. It makes sense that if you are going through such measures to add a window that can stop armor-piercing bullets that you wouldn’t want to ruin the protection by having the windows rolled down.

What is Hybristophilia?

February 19, 2024

Hybristophilia

Hybristophilia (also known as the Bonnie and Clyde Syndrome) is a form of paraphilia (or perversion) involving sexual attraction to people who have committed some sort of “outrage”. The term is usually associated with fans of notorious criminals.

Many high-profile criminals, particularly those who have committed atrocious crimes, receive “fan mail” in prison that is sometimes amorous or sexual, presumably as a result of this phenomenon. In some cases, admirers of these criminals have gone on to marry the object of their affections in prison.
