It’s basically impossible to give a short, succinct description of black holes that is also in any way even vaguely correct. They are so completely different from anything we encounter in daily life that even metaphors fail.
So the best way to think of it, for the layperson just going about life wanting to be essentially educated as to how the universe works, is to imagine a very large, very old star. This star has used up all its fusion “fuel,” if you will, and will soon collapse, exploding spectacularly in an apocalyptic cataclysm of radiation that will, briefly, outshine its whole galaxy.
Some people claim that vinyl sounds better than digital formats and will shut their ears to any arguments to the contrary.

Flattery used for manipulation.
It’s not just flattery: aka being kind and sweet and excessively loving to an individual, because you like them. And it’s not just being romantic.
People can try to use flattery or big gifts and have it not be received well, but that’s not the same as love-bombing.
Love-bombing is when excessive flattery/kind gestures are used as a tool to make a negative thing seem ‘justified’ or ‘not that big a deal’.
Modernism broadly refers a set of beliefs that became dominant in the late 19th century and continued through most of the 20th century. These beliefs were generally that logic, science, and reason could help us learn from the mistakes of the past, and using what we learned, come to a deeper understanding of ourselves and of the meaning of human life. There is usually some sort of vibrant optimism in modernism, at least as far as the idea that if we just think hard enough and look deeply enough, we can make things better (at least understand things better).
