What Are The Mechanics Of Big Game Fishing?

May 10, 2023

Fishing isn’t about beating the fish in terms of strength. It’s about exhausting the fish and then making the most of every bit of force.

So you let the fish run, then when it slows you start reeling, then you let it run, then you keep reeling.

How Did Half-Life Change The Gaming Industry?

May 5, 2023

half-life

Before half life came out shooters were very basic. They had a setting – demon infested Mars base, nazi castle etc and a few words on the back of the box to explain the why you were there.

The gameplay was fun but it was a case of finding the way to the end of the level so you could do the same on the next level maybe youd find a new gun or a secret area every few levels. Eventually after 20 levels of the same thing you’d fight a big boss that essentially just took more bullets to kill than other enemies and that was the end.

What’s It Like To Be Gay And In Prison?

May 4, 2023

It depends on the man himself.

In CCA there was an openly gay Hispanic fellow, who I don’t believe spoke any English. The Hispanic guys doted on him. He was treated by a number of men the way you might expect they would treat a girlfriend. I saw his admirers bring him little gifts, candy purchased on commissary, the milk from their breakfast… They would save him a seat close to the TV, and made sure his laundry was tended to.

What Life Was Like Under Nazi Occupation?

May 3, 2023

german occupation of france

The most quickly felt impact of German occupation was general shortage. All products of value were seized by the Germans, and French citizens received ration cards for just about everything. Coal and fuel were difficult to get, so people were freezing in winter time, made their own clothes, and mostly used bicycles. Food shortage was most felt in cities : meat, coffee, fruit, sugar, almost everything was scarce. As rutabagas and Jerusalem artichokes became staple diets, there was immediately a thriving black market. Wholesale dealers of “butter, eggs and cheese” made fortunes buying restricted products from farmers.

How Much Harder Are Classes At An Ivy League School Compared To A Community College Or A State School?

May 1, 2023

ivy league vs community college

I graduated from Dartmouth in the 1990s so my info may be old. I also have taken several classes in both the sciences and humanities at public state schools such UC Berkeley, the University of Minnesota Twin Cities and my local California State University. The main difference as many answers here have noted is not so much the materials, instructors or professors, but the students’ abilities. Rather than giving statistics which you can google, here are my personal undergraduate experiences.

Neve 8028

MELISSA BLOCK: Let’s talk about that board. It’s a Neve 8028 soundboard and that was the studio console at Sound City. What was so great about it?

DAVE GROHL: Well, you know, that was a great era for recording equipment. The late ’60s and the ’70s, a lot of this really beautiful equipment was being made and installed into studios around the world and the Neve boards were considered like the Cadillacs of recording consoles.

Why Did The Soviet Union Collapse?

April 26, 2023

The biggest factor was nationalism. The USSR was one large super-state made up of many smaller states that had been independent countries in the past; sort of like the United States, if Texas, California, and Idaho had all spoken separate languages for centuries and considered themselves, to varying extents, different races before being united under one federal government.

12 Americans Reveal Criticisms From Non-Americans That Aren’t Warranted

April 21, 2023

1. When they say Americans are stupid. If you knew anything about engineering or natural sciences you would know the US has by far the most spectacular advances in STEM.

In fact, the smartest people from all around the world come to the US to study, research, and work. The US won 2/3 of all Nobel prizes. If you generalize 330 million people based on a heavily edited pedestrian interview on Hollywood Boulevard, you are the dumb one.
