Tina and her family is originally from Croatia and they lived 20 miles outside the Croatian capital Zagreb. They fled the city for Serbia at the outbreak of the Yugoslavian war. They were forced to flee Serbia in 2000 as well due to the air raids and outbreak of war in the country, eventually finding their way to the USA in 2001.

The family has also owned a home in Las Vegas since 2004 and was reportedly on the verge of US citizenship.

The 23-year-old worked from home, fielding calls for an insurance company but dreamed of building a career in computer science.

"We survived bombing and we escaped from Croatia to Serbia. We got bombed there and after that we came here to the US. Then this happens,” Her uncle Predrag Komazec lamented.

First, we check for history of suicidal attempts or ideation. We speak ‘to friends and family to get a sense of what was going on in a person’s life. Also, we look for notes.

Most often, people jump from a window in their apartment or from the roof. If someone jumps from a roof, many times, there are cameras that overlook the roof or the hallway outside of the door leading to the roof. So we can see who was going up there.
