October 20, 2022

Many of us know what we need to do to attain our versions of success. At least broadly, if not exactly what needs to be done. Have a goal (or goals), be consistent, keep getting better, adapt when needed, form a team, be grateful, avoid burnout, work, work, work. Work.

The kid’s parents didn’t say anything back. Dad turned away with a face like stone, cold and unsmiling, and Mom seized the boy’s hand roughly when he tried to wave at someone else, slapped it, and muttered something to him in irritated, angry Chinese.

What Is Processed Food And Why Is It Bad For You?

October 19, 2022

When food is “processed” it generally means that it is altered in someway in between its source and when you consume it. Many foods we eat today are “processed”.

Processed foods often contain excessive concentrations of salt and/or fat and/or sugar. These ingredients are added to mask the effects of the preservatives/texturizers/emulsifiers/dyes, and to “add back” flavor that was lost in the processing. Each of these ingredients (in excess) can have detrimental physical effects, but consuming them in unnatural proportions/quantities can throw off your body’s ability to gauge its energy/food levels, which can lead to overeating.

Poll of the Day

October 19, 2022

I love my nephew and can’t get by on the thought that I wouldn’t be able to get him a birthday present (Nov 3rd). I scraped together whatever change I could and bought him some lottery scratchers. and holy shit he actually won (on two of them no less). One was for about $50 which was cool enough but the second one was actually into the middle 5 figures. I mean life changing money (I can’t say exactly how much because in our state lottery winners are all public record).
