A Sobering Confession
I am a 72 year old female who just found out I have stomach cancer.
My whole life I worked as a neurosurgeon and spent my youth and up until my early forties, going through school and trying to become the very best medical doctor.
I never had kids, was way to busy to marry, and only even had any definition by my career title.
Why Don’t Infertile People Just Adopt or Foster Children Instead of Spending Thousands on IVF Treatment?
The more you actually know about adoption and fostering, the less viable of an option it sounds like.
Now, if your sole goal is to “help children” (and this is almost never the reason anyone wants to be parent, infertile or otherwise) then absolutely, being a foster parent helps more children than any other option- BUT…you will most likely never adopt from foster care.

We live in a world where the slightest inconveniences can be resolved with the tap of a button or banished with the quick swipe of a credit card – endless entertainment, same-day shipping, meal delivery, and abundant access to sugary foods, hard-hitting drugs, and porn provide us with a never-ending source of unearned dopamine.

Fishing isn’t about beating the fish in terms of strength. It’s about exhausting the fish and then making the most of every bit of force.

The last image of Franz Reichelt, an Austrian-born French tailor who is remembered for jumping to his death from the Eiffel Tower while testing a wearable parachute of his own design.
Like all parachutes, Reichelt’s idea relied on the increasing the surface area of a falling person in an attempt to slow their descent, but instead of being attached to an overhead canopy, his parachute would be integrated into the flight suit itself.
Reichelt’s suit had a number of extra panels and flaps that would deploy as a person was in freefall. Or at least that was the idea.
