- “They will never find me.” Almost drowned in Hawaii in a riptide at age 10.
- “At least daddy won’t see this and the rest of my family never pays attention to me so I’m coming to heaven God.” Tried to commit suicide by drowning at age 8 due to being sexually abused.
- Pure relief, because either they would finally get the help they needed or the pain would end forever. Tried to commit suicide via sleeping pills.
- Thought about how they didn’t buy enough pizzas from their favorite pizza place.
- “I never got to have my own cat.” At age 6, in the hospital having a severe allergic reaction.
- “I can’t believe this is how I die.” Almost drowned after falling off a cliff while drunk.
- “Fuck am I having a heart attack? There’s no way; I’m not thin enough for that.” Right before heart went into palpitations due to anorexia.
- “Oh shit, my sister had to see me drown.” While drowning but felt calm about it.

- “This is gonna make a mess.” While having a heart attack, put arm across dinner plate so wouldn’t fall face-first into it.
- “I’m gonna look like such an idiot without eyebrows.” Almost died in a fiery explosion at old job.
- Saw a white light at the end of a tunnel while being electrocuted. Last thought was wondering if knees would unlock.
- “I’ve lived enough, I’m ok with this.” While bleeding out after being stabbed, felt calming euphoria.
- The only thought that kept them from suicide was that their cat would miss them.
- “I gotta stay awake, I gotta stay here” after nurse asked if they would still be there when she got back, not knowing organs were failing.
- “Oh, so this is how it ends. Interesting.” Felt at peace as car sailed off road into trees.

- Just wanted to sleep while septic after giving birth 6 days prior. Too weak to hold baby.
- “Oh crap is that a car?” Almost got hit by a car twice.
- “This is going to be so fucking expensive.” Inches away from a car accident.
