frank cullotta

The hitman at the end of Casino is played by Frank Cullotta, a real-life mobster whose career in the Chicago/Las Vegas mob gave inspiration to the film.

Frank Culotta, though not a Las Vegan, was a technical consultant on the film, since he knew Tony Spilotro since they were children and was the Ant’s right-hand man in Vegas.

In the scene where the hitman is chasing the target through his Las Vegas house, the actor playing the shooter just couldn’t get it right. Scorcese said to Frank, “Show him how you did it.” (Yes, Cullotta himself had assassinated Jerry Lisner, who’d provided information to the police about crimes that Cullotta and Spilotro had committed.)

Frank acted it out so realistically that Scorcese put him in the movie to film that scene.

draculas armor

Dracula’s Armor designed by Eiko Ishioka for Bram Stoker’s Dracula (1992)

Faced with a limited budget, Francis Ford Coppola declared early on that “the costumes will be the set.” For its costume designer, he picked Eiko Ishioka, an art director and graphic artist whose poster for Apocalypse Now (1979) he had loved a few years earlier. Something of an unexpected choice, Ishioka had never before seen a vampire movie and had limited costume design experience in feature films.

Mixing Eastern and Western cultural influences, she drew upon everything from insects and lizards to armadillos and red-blood corpuscles for inspiration, creating costumes that evoked haute couture, superhero attire, and traditional Japanese formal wear.

‘Texas Chainsaw Massacre’ was filmed on a microscopic budget of $60,000, the cast and crew had to work 7 days a week, 12-16 hours a day in 115°F heat in a poorly ventilated farmhouse amid rotting roadkill being used as props to finish the film

The Texas Chainsaw Massacre was produced on a budget of $60,000 raised by Bill Parsley, a Texas Tech administrator and former member of the Texas Legislature who fancied himself a film producer.

Even in 1973 it was a shoestring budget (John Carpenter’s famously low-budget Halloween was made for five times that amount a few years later), which meant little pay and long hours for the cast and crew.

harold camping end of the world

Christian radio host Harold Camping predicted the world would end on May 21, 2011. Followers gave up their jobs, sold their homes, and stopped investing in their children’s college funds.

American Christian radio host Harold Camping stated that the rapture and Judgment Day would take place on May 21, 2011

Camping presented several arguments labeled “numerological” by the mainstream media, which he considered biblical proofs, in favor of the May 21 end time.

A civil engineer by training, Camping stated he had attempted to work out mathematically-based prophecies in the Bible for decades. In an interview with the San Francisco Chronicle he explained “… I was an engineer, I was very interested in the numbers. I’d wonder, ‘Why did God put this number in, or that number in?’

It was not a question of unbelief, it was a question of, ‘There must be a reason for it.'”
