How Good Are ‘Bad’ NBA Players?

March 8, 2024

EXTREMELY good. I mean, like, amazing.

At our local LA Fitness, we are the “home gym” for a few NBA players during the off-season. Amare Stoudamire came in a couple times, and Mike Bibby was a semi-regular.

But, let’s talk about this guy.

Negele Knight. Unless you lived in Phoenix during the Tom Chambers-Kevin Johnson-Dan Majerle era, you have no clue who I’m talking about, which makes sense, because, in NBA terms…he wasn’t that good. He bounced around the league a bit and was never anything more than a backup point guard who played about 8 minutes a game.

Is Bo Jackson the Greatest Athlete To Ever Live Or Is He Overrated?

March 4, 2024

Before the hate mail comes in I’d first like to clarify that I greatly respect Bo Jackson and think he’s an incredible athlete. However, sometimes pure athleticism doesn’t directly translate on the field or in the stat sheet. I always enjoyed watching Jackson play and marveled at his strength and speed, but sometimes there’s more to becoming an all-around player at your sport.

Somewhere along the way Bo turned into a mythic hero, instead of simply a gifted athlete. ESPN went so far as to crown him with the Greatest Athlete of All Time award. Pretty surprising considering he only played 8 seasons in the MLB and 4 in the NFL.

Nike had conditions before giving rookie Michael Jordan a record contract: Either be rookie of the year, or average 20 ppg, or be an all star, or sell $4 mill worth shoes in a year. Jordan was rookie of the year, scored 28.2 ppg, named all star, and Nike sold $100 mill of shoes in 1984-85.

Nike offered Jordan $500,000 a year in cash for five years, which was a ridiculous number at the time. The previous highest contract was James Worthy’s deal with New Balance, an eight-year deal worth $150,000 a year. Adding stock options and other parts of the deal, Falk said Jordan would earn $7 million over those five years, as long as Nike didn’t sever the contract.

What’s It Like To Get Laid Out In The NFL?

January 6, 2023

laid out in the nfl

It was like being in a car accident. Everything was fast, then it was suddenly slow motion. I was running down on punt coverage against Dallas last season, like I’ve done a thousands times before. I pushed off on my blocker. I turned to my left. I saw a white jersey.

Car crash.

A 7ft 5in Tall, 14-Year-Old Chinese Girl Is Being Hailed As The “New Yao Ming”

July 20, 2021

Zhang Ziyu

Zhang Ziyu, a 14-year-old basketball player from Shandong, China, has been getting a lot of attention because of her unusual height, 7ft 5in, and getting compared to Chinese basketball legend Yao Ming, who is 7ft 6in.

In photos and videos that have been making the rounds online for the past week, Zhang Ziyu can be seen towering over both teammates and opponents during an under-15s tournament in Jingzhou, where she just happened to score 42 points in a game, as well as 25 rebounds and 6 blocks.

Workout Photo Of Saquon Barkley’s Legs Is Going Viral

The New York Giants running back is listed at 6’0”, 230 pounds.

In college, at Penn State, Barkley showed his strength by setting a football team record with a 405-pound power clean, and he ranked third on the all-time heaviest squat list. Barkley’s nickname in the NFL is “Quads” or “Sa-Quads” because of his muscular legs, and over the years he’s found some workouts that help him stay that way.

The 10 Sorriest Excuses for Sports

March 11, 2021

worst sports of all time double luge

Nothing captivates a man’s attention quite like people throwing their bodies around in sweat-inducing fashion to win something. Doesn’t matter if we’re sitting across from the hottest girl in the bar—if there’s Division III women’s water polo playing on a screen behind her, we’ll have trouble maintaining eye contact. But not every endeavor calling itself a sport is worthy of that label—and the media exposure, fan admiration, and potential glory that come with it. Telltale signs? The activity’s top competitors are nutjobs, pantywaists, or schlubs. It’s a hyped-up version of something kids play in the backyard. And there’s no way to participate in it without looking absolutely ridiculous. That’s why the following 10 “sports” need to be taken behind the woodshed and beaten to a pulp by some real, actual jocks.

Why Do Pro Baseball Players Require So Much More Minor League Time Compared To Other Major Sports?

January 26, 2021

minor league baseball

Well one thing is the way the game is played. With football, it is such a physical sport that you dont have time really develop guys because of the beatings those guys take week in and week out. Running backs typically fall apart when they hit the 30 year old mark. The only positions where you can be successful for a long time are qbs and kickers because they do not typically take a beating. College is basically the minors for football. You dont have the body or time to go from college to the minors to develop because one hit in football and your career is done. With baseball you can see guys playing well into their 40’s so they have time to develop their game before going pro.

Kurt Angle vs Daniel Pruder

On the Nov. 4, 2004 episode of SmackDown, Kurt Angle had challenged contestants from WWE reality show Tough Enough to best him in the ring. The probable narrative was big, bad Olympian destroys a handful of green upstarts. Angle steamrolled through his first foe, Chris Nawrocki, breaking his ribs in the process.

Daniel Puder refused to be the next victim, to accept that storyline. He proceeded to write his own. After tussling with Angle for a few moments, Puder gripped Angle’s right arm, forced it into an awkward angle and by his own admission, tried to break it.

Puder said, “I caught him in a key lock, pulled him into a kimura and tried to snap his arm off.”
