The Wandering Soul
“Ghost Tape Number 10” was an audio mix the US military used for psychological operations in the Vietnam War against the North Vietnamese. It played deeply on the Vietnamese belief of ancestor worship, spirits and the afterlife. The Wandering Soul was played on loudspeakers installed on helicopters, PCF boats or by infiltrating infantry ‘loudspeaker teams’ on known enemy areas usually at night deep within the jungle. It exploited the Buddhist belief that once a person dies, his body must be buried in the family plot or his soul will wander aimlessly.
The Sound Of The Planet Saturn
This audio, recorded by NASA’s Voyager, picks up the sounds of Jupiter’s electromagnetic “voices,” which come together to create intricate soundscapes. As fascinating as it is terrifying, it’s a totally otherworldly sound that seems to have no place on our small planet.
The Jonestown Death Tape
It was recorded during the Jonestown massacre where 900+ people committed suicide by drinking Koolaid with cyanide. In the tape you can hear Jim Jones preaching to the people and encouraging them to drink the koolaid.
The background noise makes it creepier, but it’s creepy enough to know that during that recording there were moms giving poison to their own children.
Kevin Cosgrove 9/11 call
It’s the recording of a man, Kevin Cosgrove, on the phone to the 911 dispatch center in NYC after the 9/11 attacks. He, along with 2 other men, are trapped in an office on the 105th floor of the second tower. He’s asking where the firemen are, how much longer they’re gonna be, how he called his wife who thinks he’s coming home.
Towards the end of the video he is saying they’re near the window to the dispatcher. Mid-sentence there’s a rumbling sound, he screams “Oh God!” into the phone as the rumbling sound gets louder. His next scream is cut off as the tower falls.
Lost Cosmonaut
This is a supposed recording of a Soviet space flight in 1961. In it, a Russian woman can be heard complaining about the increasing temperature inside the craft before it is destroyed attempting re-entry.
This was recorded by the Judica-Cordiglia brothers in 1961. It is reportedly one of many transmissions intercepted by the two brothers that prove the existence of the lost cosmonauts.

Aztec Death Whistle
The Aztecs played the mournful ‘Whistles of Death’ just before they were sacrificed to the gods. Some historians believe that the Aztecs used to sound the death whistle in order to help the deceased journey into the underworld. Tribes are said to have used the terrifying sounds as psychological warfare, to frighten enemies at the start of battle.
The Weepy-Voiced Killer
This terrifying audio is taken directly from 911 calls made by Paul Michael Stephani. Also known as the “Weepy-Voiced Killer,” Stephani would send crazy, high-pitched calls to the police shortly after murdering his victims during a killing spree in the early 80s.
Only Known Recording Of A Genuine Castrato
This recording of a performance by Alessandro Moreschi is widely considered to be part of the only genuine recording of a castrato. A castrato is someone who was castrated as a boy in order to prevent the larynx from transforming normally, leaving the individual with a distinctive, high-pitched singing voice.
The Last Transmission Of Vladimir Komarov
Vladimir Komarov was sure that he was not going to survive his journey into orbit. The space vehicle was shoddily constructed and untested, and Komarov knew it wasn’t ready yet. However, he chose to go anyway, as his best friend Yuri Gagarin was the backup pilot, and would have had to go in his place. This audio recording is of Komarov cursing the Soviet Union officials, shortly before his death.
